this may be a really stupid question...

DD1 is going to a day care that doesnt provide food. (previously she went to one where they had hot meals and a cook provided) my question is.. can you put ham on a sandwhich and leave it in her lunch box, out of the fridge and it be ok to eat? same thing for cheese and salami sticks? they want most of the lunch in lunch box and things like yoghurt can go in the fridge but we cant put whole lunch box in fridge due to lack of space. i am just sick of making vegemite sandwiches.

Surely there is a fridge they can store lunches in??

If not maybe send it in one of those cold bags perhaps?

yeah there is a fridge, but they want us to only put small stuff that REALLY needs to be in there. cause if there were 24 lunchboxes in there, there would be no room. plus they share the fridge with the room next door, so it would be over 30 lunchboxes. i just want to put most of her stuff in her lunchbox so that other 'fridge' stuff doesnt get forgotten about by the staff.

Maybe wrap the sandwich in a food wrap and put her name on it and just tell them only the sandwich needs refridgerating?

Grab yourself some of the ''SMASH" gel ice packs for lunch boxes

I got Luke's from woolworths (in the aisle where the lunchboxes & drink bottles are) - they come in a little packet of three & you freeze them, and them put them in the lunch box to keep things cold.
They're only small, but they do the job - you'll probably only need one but they come in a set of 3.

They're excellent - most afternoons when I unpack Luke's bag after school, the lunchbox is still well & truly cold enough, and thats hours after he has eaten all of his food at lunchtime

He always has ham & cheese on his sandwich, (or something similar) some cheese & crackers & fruit (along with other things, lol).
If he hasn't eaten everything, the left over things are still always cold when I unpack the lunchbox in the afternoon.

I just put it in a seperate sandwich plastic bag! (With the snap lock) There's a little condensation, but not enough to make anything go soggy
