Am I the only one who does this... is it strange?

I tie knots in the corners of flat sheets to make them fitted on DD's bed so they don't come off.
DH thought i was nuts! But it means they stay longer on the bed

I havent done it- but i will be trying it now!!! I usually just HATE flat sheets for that reason- that they come off!!

Can i ask a silly question though???? Do you mean that you say tie the two opposite corners together? (like use extra large sheets) ? or do you just make a knot at each corner and like tuck it under the matress????

Just tie a knot in each corner and tuck it under the mattress. So 4 corners 4 knots Works wonders!!

Does it work on your own bed? I have a cupboard full of flat sheets that I NEVER use for that reason.

    I'm SO trying that!

Makes me wonder why they make all those sheet sets - when all of us don't use the flats...

I only buy fitted sheets now - not the sets.

I'm having the flat sheets from all my cot sheet sets made into fitted sheets.

Also, with the flat sheet on our QS bed, I've got sheet elastic sewn into the ends so I tuck it under along with the fitted sheet. DH always seems to pull out the flat sheet at night but doing this has stopped it!

we have a fitted sheet but its so old the elastic is gone, and ALWAYS comes off and the mattress starts to eat me...atleast thats what we call it, and i HATE it, it makes my skin crawl, i dont know why, but the though of lying on just a mattress, or a pillow without a cover...*shudders*

I'm going to go try it!!!! thanks =)

Great idea...I don't know anyone who uses top sheets anymore they are soo anoying.
i got my mum to sew all the top sheets from DD1's sheet sets into fitted sheets for DD2's cot because they sleep in bags so no need for top sheets.

I'd never heard of using a top sheet and a quilt until I married DH. Now I can't imagine not having a top sheet. It keeps the quilt and quilt cover cleaner because there's a barrier between all the crap that comes off your body in bed and the quilt. I love the feeling of getting between clean sheets and then pulling the quilt over the top.
And because we use a top sheet we don't need to change the quilt cover as often as the sheets which is great coz I hate trying to put the quilt inside a blasted quilt cover.

Also, all of our actual quilts stay nice clean for ages and ages.

Clearly there is somethign wrong with me.

I LOVE flat sheets. I find that there is nothing more satisfying in the world than a proper "hospital corner" on a well made bed...
