    Painful nipple

    Hi all,

I am just posting to get some help until i can get in to see my GP in a few days.

Lachlan is now 20 months and is still bf every night and morning. I have always had a bit of trouble with my right breast through our whole bf journey. This breast has had the full history of engorgement, blocked duct etc. It comes and goes and has been bearable to deal with but not now.
The breast itself is ok but the nipple is very painful. I noticed in the shower the other night that i had a hard white spot on the nipple , i pushed it and pus came out of the spot. It stayed white for a day or so but i have noticed tonight the white has now gone. However the nipple is painful to touch and the initial latching on is painful.. Once the feed starts it doesnt hurt at all. Although I have pain just y contact with my clothes etc.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions...
    Thanks Tania

Try calling the ABA, hun, 1800 mum 2 mum. It sounds like you do have a white spot, but I personally haven't had that experience. I'm sure they can give you good advice on helping to heal it.

Sounds like a milk blister or blocked nipple duct. I found this link for you

kellymom.com :: How do you treat a milk blister?

I like to check any info found online though so I would still contact the aba.

Had something similar a couple of weeks ago. Mine was on the areola right next to almost on the nipple.
I rang the ABA and they said it sounded like white spot. I massaged and massaged and it didn't seem to get better nor did anything come out of it. I went to the GP and he didn't know what white spot was and gave me a script for AB's after googling the ABA site and white spot didn't come up. Not sure if it was coincidence or what it was, it started to get better a day or so into the AB's. I hesitated taking the AB's and rang the medicine hotline to check to make sure it was ok and wouldn't interfere with BF.
May be worth seeing a lactation consultant if you can to see if they can have a look.
