    Groaning & mega-gassy baby

Hi, my DD is moaning and groaning so loudly. Day, night and even during BF time. She's passing ALOT of bottom gas and has a rumbling tummy. I'm guessing the noisy throat clearing sounds relate to gas. It sounds painful, but apart from being unsettled I don't think it hurts her as such. I've tried different pozzies, winding and rubbing tummy. Is there a natural remedy or oral solution I could try. I mentioned gripe water to one expert and was told baby wouldn't need it as it's just a stage and will pass.

Also this could be a silly question, but if I'm gassy will that make her gassy also?
    Thanks guys

    Hi
I think it usually is just a stage that they go through, but when DD2 was having a bit of trouble with tummy pains I read up on it and found that this stage can last until they are 6 months old! DD2 is BF and she seems to drink really fast and gulp a lot, which I think is the source of the problem for her, so I have just been sitting her up every now and then during feeds to give her a chance to burp and that seems to help.
I think that certain foods that you eat can make your bub more gassy too, like broccoli, beans, etc.

My DD went thru a phase like this at about the same age. I used a herbal anti-wind preparation called "iberogast' - from a health store. Totally safe for newborns and it worked a treat (well that a LOTS of rocking!)

Thanks, I'll ask for that stuff at the health food store.
Since I posted DD has gone from her previous symptoms including constipation to slimy explosions, the last stool being a bit foamy. Maybe a BF issue..? The G.P is off until next week so I'm kind of relying on what i find on the internet to help which is confusing..
I wish our little darlings came with an instruction manual!

Gripe water (the non alcoholic one) was my bub's "magic potion" for about six months. Until we discovered this by accident, she was unhappy. But it went everywhere with us, one dose of that, stomach would gurgle gurgle 3mins later, she would fill her nappy and be all smiles (of relief). She was breastfed too.

luckily gripe water is not expensive to try (under $10 at woollies)

(Note: the first gripe water brand we tried, at the chemist, was one per cent alcohol, and my bub HATED the taste).

no expert or medical person told me to use it, just another parent i bumped into at the chemist. i don't really care who told me, as long as it worked, and it did.

it may not work in all situations, but if your bub is unhappy, worth a try (in the absence of anythign else working).

have you taken her to a naturopath (you mentioned natural solutions). I'm sure they would look at her and your dietary intake.

Not an expert here but I think I remember something about foamy poos and dairy intolerance?? Might be worth reducing or eliminating dairy from your diet for a few weeks and see if it makes any difference. Apparently it takes a little while for the dairy protein to make it's way out of your milk so you have to try for a couple of weeks to see if there is any difference.
