Unhappy Squishy Lump In 15MO Neck - Freaking Out!

So DD has been cook for a few days as she had a reaction to the MMR vac - so she has not been eating, not sleeping much and vomiting and generally miserable - but is thankfully now on the mend.

She is still cuddly and will cuddle with me on the couch for hrs (when 100% there is no time for cuddles!! ) and I was cuddling her this morning and I found a little pea sized squishy lump in her neck in line with her ear.

It doesnt hurt her when I touch it and it feels kinda fatty and it moves around when I touch it.

So I am freakng out a bit - however I am usually such a worry wart but my intuition is kinda calm funnily enough.

I will be making an appoint with my GP for tuesday (pub hol Monday) so till then I will worry.

I was googling today (I know I know!!) and it seems like it could be a swollen gland??
    Anyone else had this??

    TIA

It sounds like it is a swollen lymph gland behind the ear. The glands blow up like that when the body is fighting something. I don't know much more than that but it would be worth getting the dr to check it out. Might even pay to call the health line and see what the nurses on there think.

if her temperature is normal and she is acting like her happy normal self she should be ok, give her lots of cuddles in the meantime

My non-medical opinion... i'd say it is a swollen gland, probably her body reacting to the vaccination and fighting infection. Or it could be completely unrelated and she may be getting tonsilitis or the flu or something ...?
But I think you're doing the right thing by going to the dr. Hope it goes down

Thanks Ryatha - yeah her temp is normal now and has been for a day or two and she is eating and sleeping and no vomits.
I took her to the ER on Tuesday as she was so miserable and screaming. A doc checked her over and said it was just reaction or a virus. I would say reaction as she now has the slight rash they get when they have the MMR.

I was starting to get worried about it being some sort of cancer! But my gut tells me that it isnt - but will still get a check up by GP just to be sure.

    Thanks again!

yeah I am tending to think the same - I may give the nurse on call line a call and see what they say also.
    thanks!!

My DS had the same thing and I completely freaked out. Then I looked it up in the Babylove book and it said they are very common and completely harmless. Saw my GP as well, and he said just swollen lymph node. Based on that, I would say 'don't worry', but I always like to be reassured by a qualified medical person. Just don't worry too much in the meantime!

I agree with the others, it sounds like a swollen gland. My eldest has had it before too. It's kinda scary at first.
Try not to worry, even though I know it's easier said then done.

I'm glad your DD is feeling better too. Poor little mite.

Try to enjoy your long weekend!!
