Talking Where can I buy good quality wooden toys?

Where looking to buy a few things for Jazz. I've looked around, but it is hard as most things are online and I can't guage whether they arer good quality or not (and I've read of a BB member really disappointed with some wooden toys she got for her DD for Christmas, and I'd rather not have that experience!).

We're wanting some good quality, non-commercial wooden puzzles, inset puzzles, and some simple puzzles. We have a few commercial ones, and they are getting a good workout here and we'd like to get some more (and yep we've been to our local library and toy library ).

Jazz is also raelly getting into 'transport' like trucks, cars, and trains. So some good quality (non-commercial ) wooden 'transport' toys would be great. We want some that will stand the test of time!

And just some other fun things. I can't think of it all but basically we have taken stock of what we have, and she's got a lot of 'baby toys' so we're aging up for her, and we're wanting to replace most of her plastic stuff with wooden too.

So, throw your ideas at me!

We buy from our local markets. There is a cool older guy here who makes some awesome toys out of wood.
Also, Eco toys have some great stuff. Google them

If you suss out your preferred wooden toy brands you can search on ebay by the brand names. I picked up lots of lovely coloured wooden blocks for DD this way, much cheaper than the shop price. The blocks get a good work-out and even the big kids play with them heaps.

I was going to say eco toys too. They make their stuff out of rubber wood and I brought some stuff for my niece from there and my sister said it is really good quality. Another one I buy from is thinkingtoys and mywoodentoys - this one had absolutely divine toys. I just wish I had more money to buy them LOL

My dad makes awesome wooden toys!! He makes these ducks that are on a stick and they "walk". Will try to post some pictures. He also makes dominoes that are about 15cm long, my class love them and DS makes towers with his!
Dad belongs to a local "men's shed" and they make a lot of wooden toys to sell or donate to sick kids, maybe look up and see if there is a Men's shed near you and see what they have.

Gepettos has a habit of stocking some cheaper Made in China wooden toys, too - I don't trust the paints on them
    I'd go Eco Toys

There are many different brands wooden toys in market. If you like shopping online, you can search it by google. My sister bought a Wooden Deer for my son. I like it as I think it's a good toy for enhancing children's assembly ability.
