For some reason I have woken at either 3.30am or 4.30am all week. The alarm is set for 6.30am and this is the time I should be taking my temp.
Will the 2 to 3 hour time difference affect my temp much if I have had my 4 hours of uninterruped sleep before waking? (What is the reason for making sure we have 4 hours sleep anyway?)
Also, when I've woken early this week I feel that I could have easily fallen back to sleep but I have opted to take my temp then rather than falling back to sleep and waiting for the alarm.
Does this happen to anyone? Do you think I am doing the right thing by taking my temp when I wake up?
The reason for the 4 hours of sleep is so that you are completely rested prior to taking your temp thus making your readings consistent.
Did you know that when you wake, even talking prior to taking your temp can affect the reading? Being that you are taking a basal body temp, it is important your body is rested, you haven't moved around a lot before taking it and you take it soon after waking.
So as for the early wakings, because there has been 4 hours of sleep prior to the first wake up, I'd be charting with that reading (your 3.30am one) but I'd also take it again at 6.30am and look at what kind of difference there is.
