I'm pretty sure you could arrange it, white gold is just yellow gold that's been plated with rhodium. The jeweller I take my white gold wedding band to for cleaning and re-plating (needs to be done every 3 years or so depending on wear and tear, the yellow starts to show through) charges just over $30 for that service so pop into your nearest jeweller and I'm sure they'd be able to help you out HTH!
^ Lol same here, it just doesn't go with my colouring but I thought it would be a bit cheap of me to wear a silver wedding band lol White gold was the perfect solution!
Some jewellers offer replating on site, others have to send items away to be plated/cleaned, so it could take a couple of weeks. If that's a concern, shop around a bit or visit local, independently-owned jewellers (ie not the chain ones like Prouds etc) and ask if they do it on-site
ETA Heirloom jewellery ftw! That's so lovely to have your nan's ring to carry on
Most cheap jewelry stores like Prouds or Micheal Hill use a 'bleached' yellow gold to make white gold, this tends to look dull and grey, it can then be rhodium plated to make it shinny but as it's been said it rubbs off and you need to keep getting it plated again.
My rings are made from palladium based white gold which is true white gold but the alloy in it is palladium instead of yellow gold so it is shinny and whiter and it's nearly as strong as platinum where as the white gold which has yellow gold as the alloy is softer. My rings are made from the palladium based white gold and are shinny all the time and I will never have to get them covered in rhodium (which looks terrible when it starts to rub off as it's merky and grey underneath)
My advice is to take the ring to a propper jewler and get them to cover it in the high quality 18ct white gold which is palladium based
