    Hey all :-)
I'm having a ball on prac! It is sooo much fun! But due to the long hours, I am missing Eli like crazy! I drop her off at FDC at 615 and don't get back until 1530! :-( Although next week will be a 'little easier as it is PM shifts!

Saffi - I am at a QLD health hospital, and they do have there own little expressing room that I have been using, I was introduced to the breastfeeding educator of the ward, and she showed me where i can express and store my milk etc! Have been really helpful!

Eli is walking!!! She is getting more and more confident every day! Today she was standing up (unassisted) and taking a few steps, falling down, getting back up and doing exactly the same thing! She surprises me at her strength and confidence already :-)

I have to go back and read what else is written as i have forgotten!

Misty - Your little Baz sounds so cute!!

MN - I'm glad you're enjoying your placement. Wow Eli is walking?! That's great news

Wow new thread, quite the chatterboxes aren't we Thanks everyone for the TTC good luck. Now I just need AF to arrive...come on!! Moo has discovered he can stand up at his cotside & has been having a great time in there the last few days. Although it is quite cute how he stands there, surveying his kingdom lol. In the last four days he has missed his arvo sleep three times!! Hoping he's not dropping down to one sleep already. At least he goes to bed early - 6pm so it's not all bad.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend!!

Cass - glad you are enjoying your prac placement. I can't believe that Eli is walking already. You have a very clever little girl there.

Our big news is that M is crawling. She did it yesterday morning while we were getting ready for work. Good news is that we were able to video it. She is slowly getting the hang of it, still a lot of commando crawling but that will go soon enough. The other development is that she is trying so hard to pull herself up on things. DS walked at 13 months so I expect that maybe she will be a little earlier being a girl and all LOL.

Introduced her to meat tonight. So it was only a tinned baby food, but last time I tried she gagged and carried on so this is a big step. Going to try to move on to mashed food soon.

Off to a baby shower tomorrow. Doing something a little different and having a pamper party where we all get massages or pedicures. So looking forward to it. DH will be at home with both the kiddies. Hopefully they will sleep for him.

    Hi all
I haven't located the end of the last thread so I'm a bit behind the news - been pre-occupied with a household of sick people of late - We're all much better now tho
Hiya MN - wow what an early walker you have! After much pre-amble Orla is finally crawling - or doing her 'bunny hobble' as I call it - 2 hands, one knee and one foot on the ground
I'm about to start back at uni next week - a practical subject shadowing final year students in the clinic - can't wait! Will have to dust a few cobwebs off the old brain cells tho! Been investigating childcare options for next semester - bu88er all available in my area unless you want to pay thru the nose The council places are great and I've got Orla on the waiting lists so maybe by the time she's in kinder she'll get a spot! Otherwise we may have to team up with another family and hire a nanny! I'm totally confused by the CC rebate thing - can someone clear this up for me? Does every family get a 50% rebate quarterly and then may be eligable for further assistance based on income? Or is the rebate itself means tested? Would we still be eligable for a rebate if we hire private CC in our homes? (ie am I better off sending Orla to an expensive centre and at least get some of it back later?).
Sorry for the the very 'me' post - will have to catch up with everyone's news - hope you are all well

koru - have a look at the family assistance office website for details on childcare. But basically there is the benefit which is means tested and is usually given in a fee reduction, or can be claimed as a lump sum as the end of financial year. Then there is the rebate which is the 50% paid quarterly. As long as you are eligible to receive the benefit you will get the rebate, even if you get 0% benefit.
GL with getting back to studying. How much longer do you have to go?

AFU - M started pulling herself up on furniture. So after months of preparation she has reached two big milestones only days apart.

Hi to everyone. I'm shattered so off to bed.

Thanks Saffi - so they are two different things
I have the second half of last year to complete then 2 more full years - which realistically will probably be 3 if i go back to work part-time too , hmmmmmm
Way to go on the double milestones (probably making for awful sleeps tho eh?)! My DP didn't crawl til he was 9 moths old then in the space of a couple of weeks went straight to walking! They're all so different....

Saffi - Clever girl! D started crawling properly about 2 weeks ago and this week is trying to pull himself up too. But he makes it to his knees and then can't go any further so just cries! LOL.

Don't talk to me about sleep atm. It's really getting me down.

Willow - hope you get a break soon.

Saffi - Yay on crawling! Clever little poppet!

AFU - all going well for Christening prep. My brother is stuck in UK -I am devastated! He hasn't seen Eli yet, very sad but nothing can be done. Only a small glimmer of hope that he will make it at all.... other than that usual stress over work etc BLERGHHHHH

Rach - OH NO!!!!!!! Who would think that one volcano in Iceland could cause so much disruption. Hopefully he can reschedule his flight and still come out for a visit.
Willow - hope you get some sleep.

AFU - M is doing really well with her sleeps (sorry to brag).

Anyway, its nearly 9pm - have a load of washing on, need to take the rubbish out, ironing to do, clothes to sort, etc etc etc. When does my work actually finish????

Saffi - YAY on the double milestone! Go baby!

mummenurse - Walking already? Wow, you have a clever, determined little one there!

tippytoes - I thought you sounded down today, now I understand why! I soooo hope youre brother can make it hun. On a brighter note though, I cant wait for Eli's christening this weekend.....yay!

Koru - Goodluck getting back into study. Its hard, but all worth it in the end. I kind of miss uni already, not the work, just the socialising

Willow - I feel your pain, Lochie is sleeping pretty crap...its poo!

cheezelmonster - ill add to that pot of goodluck youre building there for ttc#2....

    Hi to everyone else!

AFU - Lochie has started walking around holding onto furniture, and walks along walls too (what a mess, my walls are white....FOR NOW!). He is getting so confident and even lets go and stands on his own for a while. We have had a few bumps and bruises, but what can you do? He is getting better at getting down now though, so that will help Sleeping is pretty crap, get a few good nights with one wake up then a few more with 2-3....arghhh! Feeding going ok, eating everything although been off it a bit for the last few nights, me thinks more teeth??? Childcare visits start this week, hopefully he'll be ok. Well, thats about it for me....

We had a much better night last night, only one wake up. His day naps are generally great, just nights we have issues with. He is cutting 4 teeth and it looks like one has just cut the gum, so hopefully the others will come through quickly.

I can't believe some bubs are starting to walk and stand etc, we've only just mastered crawling! LOL Weird for me because my other two reached these milestones a lot earlier.

Also wanted to ask what sorts of food your bubs are eating? Lacking a bit of inspiration at the moment. I'll add ours too:

    Breakfast
Usually just Rafferty's Garden cereal and some fruit
Have started giving him toast and raisin toast occasionally just cut into fingers for now

    Lunch
Rice cakes with hommous or some other spread
    Baked beans
    Yoghurt
    Fruit
    Pasta and sauce
    zucchini slice

    Dinner
Usually a mix of meat/veg/rice or pasta. I made him up a batch of food last fortnight and he LOVED it. Just beef mince, grated carrot, corn kernels, baby peas, tin of tomatoes and a little gravy powder, touch of tomato paste. Then I cooked some rice and stirred it through. Makes about 10 meals so I freeze them and he has them for dinner. He also likes spag bol or pasta shells with pumpkin and sweet corn stirred through.

Its lunch I kinda struggle with to be honest. He's not quite ready for sandwiches I don't think, he'd gag too much. Toast is OK but bread is too soft I think Would love to hear what your bubs are enjoying. I'd like to give him more fresh fruit cut up but apart from watermelon, everything still seems a bit advanced for now. He did have a few sultanas today and managed those OK. We've only started yoghurt in the last few days because his brother has a lactose intolerance and couldn't have it so I kinda forgot about it until now! No problems so far, so hoping he doesn't follow in his brother's footsteps.

    Hey girls

Saffi - woo hoo to M crawling AND standing I'm glad you were able to catch it all on tape! Hope you had a nice time at the baby shower/pamper session!

Koru - yay to Orla for bunny/hobbling too Sounds very cute!

Willow - I hope you start getting some more sleep soon I can relate, Moo may go to bed at 6pm but he sure doesn't sleep all night. The other night he was up 4 times And lately I've had to resort back to rocking him to sleep for all sleeps, but am secretly enjoying the cuddles Sorry I'm not much help with food at the moment, Moo refused to eat for the last week! But I do find Robyn Barker a good source of info.

TT - I really hope your brother gets over in time for the big event.

Issy - way to go Lochie with the cruising Good luck with the childcare visits.

Been a bad week here! Moo has been refusing all solid foods which has really stressed me out. Just when I was at the end of my tether today he suddenly wanted FOOD and LOTS of it! What a relief Don't know what that was all about but am glad it's over.

Willow _ wahoo on the two more teeth! Glad to see the sleep pattern has got better! We eat the same kinda things, baby cereal, then will have snacks (fruit, yogurt or rice cracker thingys) lunch is s'wishes she loves them! Loves vegemite :-D another snack time... And then dinner is what we're having mostly. cut finely or mashed.

Cheezel - No wonder you were stressed, how horrible {hugs} Glad to hear he is back eating :-)

    Misty - I get ya!

Issy - Wahoo on lockie walking around the funiture :clapclap:

saffi yay on crawling :-) Fun times ahead!

tippi - Did your brother get out of the UK okay?

AFM - Eli is just growing up tooo fast! She can now stand up unassisted and walks off. I tell you it is sooooo weird watching eli come and walk down my hall way! she is such a hoot to play with, Daddy and her have a special game they play were he gets on his hands and kneeds and goes behind the wall and goes RAHHH then she'll go Ahhh and come running to me, laughing, then he goes back behind the wall so she walks/crawls after him and they do it again! Very cute! But we have learnt mummy can't do it! My Rahhh just ain't good enough she just sits there and looks a bit shocked as if to say thats dad's job!

She survived my two weeks of placment (I have a thread about placement in wahoo) the expressing + feeding boosted my supply so am waiting for it too slow down again LOL . . . Eli has 4 teeth now, two top and two bottom! And omg hurts when she bites down!!!

I really must go, need to go do my grocery shopping, but really trying to advoid it LOL

Had a little sad moment the other day, when DP said no more babies :-( He'll buy me a puppy instead... I kno i said i don't want anynmore... and i know i don't want any right now... But 5 years down the track i can't be sure that i won't... Does that make sence... I just can't see myself never being pregnant again, never giving birth again, never getting those first cuddles or smell awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

    Hope everyone is well...

    Hi everyone

Willow - what's the teeth count now? Don't have any suggestions with food as you are way ahead of me. Actually you have given me some inspiration.
Cass - how many kids would be your ideal number? Sometimes I think another would be nice but realise I have my hands full with the 2 I have and work etc. My biological clock is also ticking loudly......
Cheezel - glad that Moo is back eating. The pamper session was lovely. We all agreed that we should do it again sometime. My mother's day present will be some sort of beauty salon voucher so I don't have too long to wait until my next pampering.
Issy - I found a dream feed equals sleeping through too. The last few nights she has slept until 5 or 6am.

AFU - M is crawling about everywhere and pulling herself up. DH is going to have to lower the mattress in the cot as she is pulling herself up on it! She is also a major squirmy bub on the change table. I've got used to DS who just lies there now. I could really do with an extra two arms to pin her down.

Nothing much else happening. Have an eye infection at the moment so I look dreadful with a red swollen eyelid. Had to go to an after-hours Dr today. Don't these things always happen on a long weekend?
