    paed in east/south east melbourne

Can anyone recommend a paed around this area? Took DS for his 1 year MCHN appt yesterday and the growth of his head is starting to bother me a little now. He's always been a small boy around the 20th percentile for length and weight but his head just keeps growing and growing, it's now off the charts. I know it's probably nothing but I think I just need the reassurance so am taking him to the GP to see what she says and would like to have the name of a good paed handy if she suggests going down that route.

    TIA

The Peads West Gippsland Paediatric Group are fantastic. They are based in Warragul but I'm almost positive they come to Berwick once a month
We saw Chris Smith but i've heard great things about all of them

See what your GP says I think - because if you can't get a GP referral, a paediatrician could be very expensive reassurance! Was the MCHN concerned at all?

ETA: I forgot to say that I've heard good things about the WGPG too. And small hijack - tell me about Chris Smith Cheshire - we see him this Friday!

    Thanks ladies

Nelle yep I'm just going to see what the GP says first but at the chance she does suggest taking DS to a paed I thought i'd be good for me to do my homework first rather than let her just choose one for me. The MCHN seems more amused by it than anything else, yesterday she was like "oh he looks like a little 8 month old who walks around like a one year old but with a big head!" Not exactly sure how that is supposed to reassure to me......She's a nice lady but I'm not sure I really value her opinion on this.

Nelle he is fantastic, he was kind, caring & listen to everything i had to say.
We went there for Maddi & i asked him about question about Kodi & he knew i was a bit worried so he checked her over and reassured she was doing well.
Only con was the waiting time, but the have a great little play area so the kids are happy

That's great to hear. With payment (Sorry for the hijack Ally, I guess I'm hoping this is still slightly relevant and helpful for you too), did you have a referral, and if so, how does that work? Do you pay the whole thing and get some back from Medicare? Or do you pay some and the rest is covered somehow? I want to know how much I'll need in the bank account...

Nelle, you need a referral to see a Pead, so yes i had one
You need to pay to amount in full & then goto medicare to claim it back. I think you end up being $130ish out of pocket.
There is a medicare in Warragul as well & it's a lot less busy than the one in Narre
