Well, I guess I better kick this one off for all of us with babes that arrived June 16-30th! Only just realised I should probably join a baby buddies group

My DD Heidi arrived on 25 June, very very early. She was meant to be arriving late Sept/early Oct - but clearly this little diva had other ideas. So she will spend her first few months of life in NICU getting all the precious care she needs.

Looking forward to sharing our journey as well as all the normal ups & downs of life with you all.

Hi Infinity, I read your birth announcement. Your little Heidi was certainly in a hurry! I was in SCN with DD1 for only a few days and found that really hard to cope with so big hugs to you for the road ahead but am so glad for you that your early girl has arrived safely and is getting the care she needs for the next few months till she's home in your arms where she belongs!

As for my belly buddy mums, I found the thread for our bubs so expect to see you all in here SOON sharing the ups and downs of our LO's lives outside oue tummies! Typing this one handed whilst breastfeeding one and trying to get toddler to sleep so will be back later to share a bit more about how we've been last week or so but hoping the rest of you will be in here by then too

    HELLO!!!!

Hi infinity! Wow.. you sure did have a little bubba... glad she is doing so well for being so preemie!

Cannot believe we're on the other side now.. *lol*

DH goes back to work next week... we've been a good team this week and had some great bonding time. DH is such a great dad and I love him so much right now! I am a bit nervous about being by myself when DH goes back to work... but hopefully it all should be OK.

We got DS circumcised and his little plastibell ring fell off last night. His little penis is still a little red but it looks pretty good. Oh yeah, DS's cord stump fell off too so he's got a nice clean belly button... but it's still an outie so I'm hoping it becomes an innie soon!

Even though DS is only 9 days old I'm trying to get him used to night and day so that his sleep cycles are a bit more normal. At the moment he is sleeping like a dream during the day, but is up every 2-3 hours at night for feeds and takes ages longer to settle afterwards. Needless to say, Mummy sleeps in the afternoons when DS sleeps!

OK, time to make dinner while my little man sleeps.

Oohhh YAY, some more mummies and bubs in here! Congratulations on welcoming your little ones earthside!

Don't have much time right now to post but DD is still going really well, nice & stable and strong which is great. She is just over a week old now and everything is looking really positive. She is a tiny precious little girl that's for sure. We are fairly tired but managing ok all things considered.

Back in sometime soon to chat more. Enjoy those newborn snuggles xx

*Infinity* : i too read your BA and your little girl sounds like a fighter! i hope its a smooth road that you'll walk, she has the best mummy for her!

Erica: Ahh sweets, when your DH goes back to work it'll sort its self out. as for night and day - i know with DJ i let him sleep with the certons open in his room of a day and night closed them - so when he went to sleep it was like KWIM? also you'll find that when your little man was most active in the belly is when he'll be most active now!

    Hello laides.
Mr Vic (0r monkey as he's known LOL) is in SCN. due to an infection which has the peads scratching their heads about. (trust, its my son who makes them wonder whats happening LOL) he's been there since he was about an hour and a half old. but doing well. shows no signs of being sick - other then the numbers from the bloods he's had done. they're mainly worried about meningitus at this point - as they did a Lumber Puncure yesterday and the pre-limb results showed white blood cells (i think the number was around 16 - or something so low) which means there is/was an infection but we'll *hopefully* find out what it was on monday (they need 48hrs to grow a culture) and depending on what it is he'll be home in 10days or upto three weeks (tendays starting from the day he was born BTW) so now we wait and see. other then that he's good. Ohh and has toung tie (again had that with DJ - so it was expected) but he's very, very good at breast feeding. the only down side is my nipple is a little mis-shapen but meh. its worth it. (the pumps the hospital hurt more then Vic do! haha) my milk came in yesterday so i was in tears on and off. but going good now. on monday DH, Vic and myself are *all* having a blood test to rule out any gentic flock up. but thats a maybe as the peads dont seem to think it is - i kind of would like not to have it - seeing as i get the short end of the stick and they'd need to take 50ml of blood from me (and 40ml from DH and 3ml from Vic) but we'll do it if need be. my feet...well my cankles are HUGE but thats due to the SCN and lack of ablity to "put my feet up" and my max 4hours sleep a night isn't helping also but hopefully it'll get better now Vic is on 4hourly feeds in SCN, so it'll give me more time between feeds to be at home (during the day - as next week DH will be back at work so night feeds will be EBM) now i better head off back to the hospital. as Vic will need a feed at around 9- 9:30.
i'll be nice having some other mummies to talk to :-D

Dansta - Hope they come back with an answer for you quick so you can get your (not so little) boy home soon, it must be so hard being away from bubs, and there's nothing like being sleep deprived and having your hormone levels drop on day 4 to make you extra emotional at the best of times - but he sounds like he's doing well despite the infection and being such a nice hearty size can hopefully only help.

Poopie/Erica - Yup. Tell me about it, Lilah didn't sleep AT ALL at night for the first 10 days (well on the boob and for maybe 10 minutes after she came off before waking wanting more), so I got spits and spurts of ten minutes through the night and couldn't sleep through the day because it's day time + DD1. She's sleeping at night now and only waking for feeds thank goodness but compared to the first few week am on cloud 9.

Infinity - Are you in the boarding room at the hospy or do you live nearby so at home? Hope the nurses there are really great with you and bub.

    Cmar - Wat up yo?

Belle - Eh - who cares, crash our thread anyway!!

dan- hope victor gets to come home soon. its nothing too serious and he can come home soon.
    ah sleep, wats that again??
belle- def crash our thread, we wont tell

mr c is going pretty well, is already back up to his birth weight though he has had conjunctivitis but apparently its really common... doesnt make me feel any better about it. i expect mr c to self settle soon tho, both DF and i are both really heavy sleepers so whenever he wakes up he has to wait for a bit b4 someone responds. i no a couple of times it has been a while despite him being in the bassinet less than a metre away from our bed *guilty face*
my only sad thing is hes a daddy's boy already. at least once a day he wont stop grizzling until i give him to DF for a cuddle.

has anyone else's skin gone really bad since bubs was born? i swear its like ive just hit puberty again!!!

on a different note DF has taken 2 weeks off (goes back on thurs) but has had to go into work twice since mr c was born, has to go in again on tues and has been on his work laptop the rest of the time AND his work called him on thurs arvo despite knowing that i went into labour on wed night. freaking ridiculas, spesh since the new contracts have come in and the one they gave DF is bull, basically going from assistant manager of a small department to manager of the entire lab with a pay cut cos he will be on salary rather than hourly. he has to go in on tues when the managing director is over to "negotiate". god if i had anything to do with it..................

blah anyway im off to have a snuggle and stop being cranky

Belle - please come back to our thread! We won't say anything!

cmarfol - yep, DH took his laptop home while on paternity leave last week and actually had to go back into work on the Monday (the day after we got home!) I was livid... but wow, calling him the day after you gave birth is not on!

Dansta - so sorry to hear about Vic, but you are the best mummy to look after him and I'm sure he'll be home in next to no time!

Rumpledelf - Congrats on having your baby - 4th July bubba! Not sure if you'll join us on this thread now??

    Hello to everyone else

How is everyone going with night time feeds? I'm finding that Lachlan is up at around midnight, 3am and then 6am.. or there abouts. I spend around an hour feeding him and settling him so I get around 2 hours sleep inbetween. I've also taken quite fondly to afternoon naps, so most of the house stuff (laundry, tidying etc) gets done in the morning.

DH went back to work today so Lachlan and I went for our first shopping trip. He's still sleeping peacefully in his stroller so I'm not going to move him. The trip went off without a hitch, but I felt bad cos it was quite chilly outside and I was sure his little face was getting cold.

I'm EBF and things are going pretty well. Lachlan gets the hiccups basically after each feed. Its the most cutest thing ever.. but you can tell that he gets jack of it after a while and there is nothing I can do other than pat him and cuddle him. He also spits up a little after each feed. But he is SUCH a gutzy boy... I have to try and yank him off mid-feed for a burp cos if I don't then he overeats and spits up everywhere. Boobies are still majorly sore and huge, I'm managing to express 50-80mL and am freezing it so that DH can feed him if I go out.

I really want to go and see the new Twighlight movie - New Moon.. so I'm going to venture out next week with my sister to see it and DH will look after Lachlan. I'm a bit nervous about it... but I'm sure it will all be fine!

OK, I'm going to get some cleaning up done and make some chicken patties for dinner before my little boobie monster wants his next feed.

    Erica xx

Oh yeah! Almost forgot - I've lost 10.5kg in 12 days!!!! Woo - freaking - Hoo!!!

    Hi All,

I havent been on here for a while.

Congratulations to all the new mummies.

Dansta: i hope all goes well with your LO will be thinking of you

Infinity: your little girl sounds like a fighter, i hope its all going well.

Little Chloe is now 2 weeks and 3 days old, its been good so far but i think she eats far too much but doesnt bring anything back up so i imagine she needs to have that much??

I started off BF until my left nipple got grazed *ouch* the midwives all had different ways of telling me how to feed and it wasnt working for me and in the end she really damaged it so she was getting a right BF then a left EBF. i was shocked to see how much i expressed from one breast - between 90 and 110ml and she would have the whole amount and keep it all down!.

i am now back to BF on both breasts thank goodness it is so much easier than having to express at all hours of the morning. Hopefully the BF continues to go well it still takes me a few attempts to get her on right but im sure we will get there.

as for sleeping she has had a few sleepless nights but overall she seems to be fine. Last night she had a feed at 11pm and slept to 4am, that seems to be her routine now she has a block of 4 - 5 hrs sleep at night - for now anyway im sure she will change soon. i was concerned about her sleeping so long but she seems to be getting enough milk and has wet and dirty nappies at every feed. Im going to weigh her today to see how much she has gained since leaving the hospital should be interesting i have a feeling she is close to 4kg now - she was 3.522 when born and only lost 80gm by the time we left the hospital.

anyway thats all from me i may try to have a little nap while Chloe is sleeping.

Erica: i too lost 11.5 kg in 2 weeks, but still another 10 to go and i have a feeling the last ten will be the hardest. I cant wait to start exercising but have to get the all clear from Dr first (had a c section not sure how long i have to wait until i can do things)

There's no thread for us July folks!

I apparently got the good model of baby. He eats, he sleeps very well, he poops. My milk came in today so I can't quite put my right arm down all the way lol

Had the breastfeeding nazi (can we say that?) around yesterday, since we only stayed in hospital for about 15 hours we get daily home visits. Got told off for not feeding him often enough - except for 10pm-2am he's feeding every 4-6 hours, every 2 hours in the hungry patch. She can sod off, he's happy, his poop is yellow now, and noone is sleep deprived.

My toddler thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread. It is so cute!

And afterbirth cramps are truly awful. Nice to know they get worse with each baby

Edit: ah, weight. I'm in no rush to lose mine. Need it for breastfeeding. Apparently over 8kg of the 21kg I put on was just baby and baby related goo, so what's left is reserved for baby munchies. But I have to go to the medical centre today so I have to find some jeans that fit ...

HI ..My little girl Ayva was born on the 29th So shes 1 weeks today .. Breastfeeding is going great she was back to her birthweight at 4 days Her big brother is loving her, he rubs her hair, and gives her kisses. A big change from when he didn't want to come near me! Or anyone who was holding the baby. Didn't take him long .. lol .. Ummm, dunno what else to write really .. I'm looking after my 2 year old and newborn on my own. Their father isn't around and hasnt been for a while now. But surprisingly I'm not sleep deprived or anything .. yet ..

Oh Im loving all the little baby tickers!! So cute!

cmar - Daddy's boy eh? Harlee seems to be daddys girl, if I cant settle her, dh will instantly! I just pass her over. We think it could be because he is warmer than me.. therefore more comforting? hmm.. haha puperty! Everyone keeps saying I have a 'breastfeeding glow' lol. So no bad skin for me!

Erica - Good luck with your venture! Our sleep pattern.. when it does happen, seems to be feeds at 11pm, 3 and 7am. But that is only if she has not been sleeping all day! Well done on the weight loss. I was weighed when I was in labour and was amazed that I had gone from 64kg to 97kg! A bit much I thought, but I have lost 10 of it so far, and Im staying off all things sugar which seems to be my weakness, so hopefully without much effort it will 'fall' off!

Alex - Owies! A grazed naipple! I can only imaging how painful that could be! Glad to hear its going better now though!

Sas - Would love to know how you got Lilah to sleep at night.!? We have done it a few times where Harlee only wakes every 3-4hours, but some nights I am awake for an hour feeding, she sleeps half an hour, then I feed for another hour. Needless to say I dont get much sleep when she does that!

Well Harlee is going really well. She is well above her birth weight already.. putting on 50grams a day which is apparently alot says the nurses.. But she feeds for about an hour maybe 7 times a day. everytime she cried I would feed her. I hate to hear her cry it makes me so upset
But now Ive been told to feed her for no more than 40 mins as she is 'comfort feeding' and my nipples are becoming sore. Its so hard to let her cry.. even if it is just for a moment. The nurses also tell me to keep her awake during the day more, because she does not sleep much at night. That is also basicly impossible when I dont like her crying. And Im not sure how long she should be 'awake' for.
But she is so cute. It's amazing how much love you can give to something so small.

poopie- mr c was doing the comfort feeding thing as well, i snapped when one of my nipples bled after he fed. he now has a dummy when he wants to suck but isnt really hungry (which is pretty much all the time) but when he is actually hungry he is pretty clear so there are no mix ups and hungry bubs oh and apparently they sometimes wont settle if they can smell ur milk (when ur cuddling them) cos they want to comfort feed to sleep...
dan- hope vic is home soon, need to give the paeds a gd kick up the bum.
elf- ah thats ok, join us instead!
m2a- hi! love the name ayva!!! if we'd had a girl it woulda been on our list. gd luck with the solo, i no i couldnt do it, spesh not with a 2yo as well!!! lol dont jinx urself on the sleep deprivation!!!!!!!!!
alex- yow!!!! did u try nipple shields? thats what i had to use until my nipple healed, cos i could only get 20-40ml out from expressing...
erica- not the day after.... a few HOURS after......mr c was born 12.41pm, work phoned at 3pmish...lucky it was a quick labour or mr c would still have been getting born!

*sigh* weight, i dont really want to think about it...i hate to think how much water i was carrying around!! i freaking peed a river in the 1st week but and now down from 73kg to 62kg but apparently i had a HUGE amount of amniotic fluid as well... can u believe i got stretch marks on my calves and ankles from water retention??!!

am glad to say our feeding issues seem to have resolved themselves, tho my milk seemed to drop for a couple of days when mr c was off colour, i think cos he wasnt feeding as well but my boobs are back to leaking every where thank god. oh and my milk coming in wasnt as bad aas i expected, going by what my mum and MIL were saying *phew*

ok, now a rant to to finish my post. feel free to skip these last 2 paragraphs, i need to get it off my chest lol!!
i took mr c out for his 1st trip to the shops last wk (to get more suits cos he is too tall for most of our 0000 suits...) i got the biggest telling off from some random lady for taking him out of the house when he was only 6 days old... i felt like telling her to go jump, we were in a shopping centre for christs sake!!! and ppl kept looking at me funny cos im not a big build and have a flattish tummy (thanks support pants!!) and hes a newborn so obviously its not my baby cos i should still look semi pg or fat or something?!

AND i got kidnapped by MIL and G-maIL for lunch today... y do old ppl always insist on doing stuff like seeing if the bread is on sale, despite not needing any bread?!?!?!?! ah so frustrating! lunch turned into a 3 hour saga where i was stuck at the shops until they were ready to come home cos my car is the only one with a baby seat so we all went in my car, i ended up being late home when i had a friend coming over so my friend was stuck waiting out the front of my house until i had dropped them both home *sigh* i guess its better then them coming over to our house and clucking about how stuff is so dirty/messy (G-maIL used to be a cleaner for the local hosp and is a clean freak to the EXTREME) and offering to "fix it up for me" and how i obviously need help to keep the house clean and they are happy to do it... hello i have been sick for the whole 9 months of pg now i have a newborn, having a spotless house hasnt been and still isnt really high on my list of priorities right now!

*deep breath* wow that feels better lol hope everyone is geting SOME sleep and not having too many issues bf. xxxx
