I went to see my doctor on Wednesday (today's Saturday) and she did a membrane sweep, hoping that maybe it would bring on labour a little earlier. She informed me that it may, or it may do absolutely nothing... She also informed me that I was already 3 cm dialated. I thought "woohoo! This is going to happen soon!". The next day, I had contractions throughout the day, but mostly when I walked. As the day progressed, they got closer together and a little stronger. That night, they got to about 6-8 mins apart, and I was very hopeful that I would have a baby soon.... Sadly, they stopped around 1 in the morning, and I went to sleep hoping maybe they'd pick up again later. The next day (yesterday) they were on and off, and at night they were stronger and closer together again... but like the day before, they eventually stopped again.
I'm really frustrated... is this pre-labour? I don't know when the right time to go to the hospital is.. I'm an hour away from it, and I don't want to go all that way and be sent home... but I also don't want to go and like.. not make it.
PS: I'm 19, this is my first pregnancy, and I'm almost 39 weeks.
Congrats, sounds like labour might be starting soon for you. You'll know when you need to go to the hossy, hun. Trust your body & have a wonderful labour & birth xox
sounds like pre-labour. do you have a fit ball to sit/ bounce on? help bub get into the best possie for birth?
a midwife told me "if you think you're in labour, your not. you just know" also if it helps try and squat as that'll help bubs engage also.
ohh and another thing. relax. dont think about labour comming on just do other things (nest ) and see what happens from there.
If it stops over night, it's prob just pre-labour. Sorry to say...! But pre-labour is a great warm up to the real thing... And it means your body is getting ready for the main event!
Some people say that the more pre-labour you have, the more efficient your actual labour will be. Maybe even shorter
