I'd say that it's Chocolate icing mixture. (choc icing sugar you get in a bag)
Ganache is usually made with melted choc and cream.
I bought Shel a really yummy looking cookbook and one of the ganache recipes calls for chocolate-flavored cake covering, to melt and set flat and use as the icing (I guess?) around the edges.
Now, I have NO idea what this is, but the word 'flavoured' makes me think its probably not really nice...?
So what is it? Is there a way to make this? Is it just a product that melts down to set, and is easy to use? Is there a nicer alternative?

Yeah they said to make the ganache and use it to stick the cake together, and on the top and then use this stuff for around the outside?
I would say it's Chocolate fondant but I'll find out for sure![]()
I stand corrected:
Sounds like Chocolate melts to me...Chocolate Glace is a chocolate-flavored cake covering which is an inferior product not generally used by true chocolate lovers. However, it has a high fat content, making it easier to handle when making some decorations such as curls or caraque. In case you do not want to compromise flavor too much, but have difficulty making the decorations with pure chocolate, try adding a few squares of chocolate-flavored cake covering to a good quality chocolate.
