moving from sleeping bag to quilt/cover?? - when?

    Hi
I have totally forgotten when we moved DS1 out of his grobags and into blankets...
DS2 seems to be resisting the sleeping bags... kicks his legs when we put him in etc. his sleep is pretty awful...
wondering what age is a good one to chg to a little quilt/blanket?
he has a sheet at the moment over his sleeping bag (though he does crawl out of it)...

what do you think? (he is nearly 1 - HOW DID THAT HAPPEN LOL)

DD1 came out of bags, about 2yrs 4mths, my mum made them bigger for her. I did it over summer so she could adjust without the worry of her getting cold.
    Good luck!!!
P.S. My *baby* is almost one too, not sure where the year has gone

MP, we had DD2 in her sleeping bag right up until spring of last year...so bang on 2 yo...although I noticed before then that she was getting a bit tidier about keeping her blanket on, so it could've been earlier. DD1 was a back sleeper and stayed tucked up cosy in her bed right from the beginning so *never* had a sleeping bag. So maybe try him under a blanket for a night or two and see how he goes?

We abandoned the bags once DS moved to a big bed (about 18months). It was winter & he wasn't very good at leaving blankets on, so we dressed him in warm fleecy suits with legs (which is what we still do now - although he's getting better at using blankets). In winter, we dress him in a singlet + flanelette PJs + polar fleece all-in-one - he's still warm enough, even if he ends up with no blankets on.

DD is 21 months and still in a sleeping bag. I think when she goes into a big bed it when we'll change over. Im not sure when that will be though!

try taking it off and see how he goes, that's all you can do I guess! I won't be taking DD out of hers for a while, she rolls all over the cot in her sleep so she'd either roll out from underneath the blankets or get tangled up in them and I'd be worried all night about her suffocating in them.

She was about 2 when we stopped sleeping bags - mainly because she was getting out of them herself. I'd try and keep him in over winter if you can, so much easier to keep them warm.

I'm currently contemplating this same thing... we have moved DD into a big bed but she's still in her sleeping bag. We wanted the consistency of using the sleeping bag as a sleep aid - "time for bed, into your bag" and she's also really squirmy as she goes to sleep, so she often ends up round the wrong way or lying on the blankets.

I'm worried if we take the bag away she will be cold... esp as its winter... so I'm thinking we'll persist for a while longer. She's only 16 mths.

We never used the gro bags with DS1 or DS2, only the snugtime sleep suits. They both liked to sleep on their tummy's when old enough to do so. So answering your question when for the blankets and so on, it was when they moved into a bed. Our Cot converts into a junior bed, that's when I made it up like a bed.
With DD she is in a gro bag, I am thinking the summer, as she too likes to roll and sleep on her side at the moment, by summer I should be able to relax a little for her sleeping on her tummy (that is where she is trying to head).
The good thing about the snugtime sleep suits is you can put Pj's underneath, so they are warm enough. Pretty much the same as the gro bags.
