    Treadmill Recommendations?

We're buying a treadmill this week - as much as we plan to get out and go for a walk, its always too dark by the time we get home, and its still dark when we leave in the morning. The area we're in doesn't really lend itself to safely walking in the dark, even in pairs

So, treadmill it is. I know you can get cheap ones, but we wanna buy a decent one that has the following features -

    110kg min
    Automatic incline

Everything else is optional, although I wouldn't mind some programs. So, does anyone have any brand recommendations?

We got an Infiniti one back in 2005 for about.. ummm... $1500? or $1800- something like that. Its not too bad, nothing fancy, but its weight limit is 135kg (which we need for my DH) and it has programs and incline and all that jazz.

Its still going 5 years later, so its not TOO bad.

mine is a Horizon Fitness one and it's rated to 120kg. It does have the automatic incline and several programs you can use. I can comfortably jog on it and not worry about busting it It was just under $1200

I know you asked about treadmills but have you considered an exercise bike instead? I had a treadmill and I found it really annoying because either I was looking at the wall while I ran or my back was to the wall which I hated because I was always paranoid about flying off the back - it's never happened to me but it could yanno. I've seen it on youtube and funniest home videos I know.... I have some odd fears

The bike was cheaper and it fitted nicely into the lounge room where I could ride and watch TV or chat to DH.

We recently got a Treadmill off ebay of all places. It's a "Lifespan" Has something rediculous like 200kg+ rating, automatic incline, has all the little extras like your speed, time, distance, heart rate, calories burnt, body fat. Comes with speakers so you can plug your MP3 in to it if you want, though after using it, I'm not sure I'm comfortable putting the ipod in the holder they have? Goes to 22klms per hour like we're ever going to get that fast!
It does have some programs with it, though I'm not sure on how each one works, i would probably understand if i read the booklet.
The belt on ours is 52cms wide. So it's nice and wide for DH as he doesn't like small width treadmills.
If you look on ebay, and search for treadmills, I just tried searching again for ours and it didnt come up as lifespan or lifespan Force (just found the model name on ebay) btu when i searched for treadmills, it was one of the ones up the top.
We paid about $870 for ours, postage was a biggie for us, about $300 for freight and insurance to QLD.
One thing we did notice about some treadmills on the market, is that some of them have a bar that goes across the front, so imagine that you could reach out and hold on to the bar in front of you while walking. Anyway, we decided that we didn't like the idea of that as we would have DS running around downstairs one day and we have nephews who we were worried would find it something fun that they could swing off, if they were visiting.
    Have fun shopping

LOL, I'm just clumsy enough to do that Onyx! On a side note - I was reading the trivia thingies on the back of a libra pad the other day, and finally understood why you used to be Brontide

Yep, already got a bike. DH prefers the bike, whereas I could walk all day and not 'notice', I can tune it out.

I have ours in the bedroom and we have a small TV in there so I watch that otherwise it is boring as bat**** ROFL. the other day though I had the brilliant idea of getting DS1s portable DVD player and I can mount it on the treadmill and watch movies now.
