Yay first to post!

Just a quick one to let u know that Hamish has cut his 2nd tooth. Now has the 2 front bottom teeth!

I got Tiah a Jolly Jumper at the Target sale today... she freaking loves it! She bounced around for about 15 mins and is now so deeply asleep I am quietly optimistic that she may sleep a bit longer tonight....

AND went and got my boobies measured at Bras and Things (The ones I got when I was pregnant were feeling a bit tight) and OMG. I was a B-C cup before I fell pregnant. I am now an ...... F! No wonder I was so uncomfortable, I was wearing bra 2 cup sizes too small! I was in shock when the lady told me.... and then in heaven when I tried the bras on... even though they do look like old lady bras

Nat - we have the jumperoo and yep the butterfly is dangly/floppy unlike the picture, I don't mind so much because it's the only thing DD can reach to hold properly at the moment! I thought it was just meant to be a different kind of manipulative thing for them, even though the box shows it differently.

Jelly - sounds like Aidan is powering along and did really well with his needles! Perhaps double check the nurses recommendation that he can go forward facing in the car seat, I'm fairly certain that all bubs have to be rearward facing until 6 months of age, across all states.

Teresa - 2 teeth! Wow go Hamish!!

Meercat - glad Tiah enjoys the jolly jumper, and good stuff with the bras too!

A long day here for us, MIL is in town for a couple of days and came to visit, but as DD has only met her a couple of times she was really clingy to me and wary of her. I felt sorry for MIL as she just wanted cuddles but DD wasn't having a bar of it - all smiley at her when on my lap or next to her on the couch, as soon as she picked her up though whoaa big performance Oh well, it'll take time I guess.

B - sorry, no advice to offer, I'm afraid! Fraser takes 240 ml per feed at the moment, but that is subject to change. 2 weeks ago, I couldn't get him to take any more than 100 ml, but that was on one of his off weeks. He's thriving, so I'm not worried about it. The CHN says just to keep going as we are and trying to get him to take as much as possible. Glad to see you back

Teresa - yay for Hamish's second tooth! Hope he's going okay with them!

Human Bean - good luck with MIL - hope all goes okay!

Meercat - wow, that's certainly a huge difference! I should go and get measured but I'm scared of only being able to wear granny bras. I have a huge difference in size on each side, so I can never get an accurate fit anyway.

As for us, we had our appointment at the Specialist on Thursday and .......... he thinks the doctor was being cautious and giving us the worst case scenario. The upshot is that he does have a hernia, but it should resolve by about 12 months - THANK GOODNESS! I was sooooo stressed and worried about it. I was even scared to give Fraser tummy time as I thought it might be hurting him. We're still having the 'ol constipation so we're onto one scoop less per bottle, which seems to be doing the trick. In fact, in this last week, we have only had wet poos and Fraser has been so much happier! Touch wood it continues! Also, Fraser slept through the night for the first time last night - it was awesome!!! We put him down about 8.15 and I heard him stirring about 4.30 am. I was about to go and make up his milk when all went quiet. Same happened at 5.20 (the time my DH usually gets up for work on weekdays), then again at 6 am (when DH got up for work), but didn't actually call out to me til 6.55 am. Even then, he wasn't starving like he usually is (he's usually shaking with hunger) so I'm hoping that this may be the start of a beautiful thing!! Not holding out all hope though!!

Claire that's great news about Fraser's hernia hopefully resolving itself - that should ease some worries for you! And yay for sleeping through!

Teresa, yay for the second tooth!!! How exciting hun!

B, are you dream feeding Ewan? I do a 7-7.30 pm feed and then a dream feed at around 10.30. I find that it gets him through the night.

Meercat, I wish my boobies stayed a C cup from when I was pg!! I am now back to a B cup, and my (.)(.) are a bit floppier now WTF???!!!

HB, Cam loves his Grandma as he sees her about 4 to 5 days a week. When my dad tries to get a cuddle he doesn't get those cute smiles and giggles that my mum gets!! Poor dad It's b/c dad doesn't spend much time with him.....

AFM, all is well, fingers crossed that it continues!! Last night I fed wee man at 7 pm, and then gave him a dream feed at 11 pm (I wait longer on the weekends) and he slept til 7 am. What a little trooper!!

Teresa - yay about Hamish getting new teeth! I heard that the first two are the most painful for teething and it is easier after them. That's from my Mum though, so I'm not sure. Mum thinks Angus has been teething since he was about 6 weeks

Meercat - that's great about the jolly jumper. Angus has the jumparoo but his feet can't touch the floor yet.

Human bean - that's not good about your MIL. Angus doesn't care who he goes to. When I bought the jumparoo from Target I was on my own, so I had to use the pram as a trolley. Before I picked up the box to put in the pram I asked this lady (who was with her Grandson) to hold Angus for a minute and he was all smiles! I think he's so used to being passed around like a sack of potatoes that it doesn't phase him. I think DH and I get the biggest smiles though

B - Wow 8kg! I thought Angus was a big boy, but he is only 6.6kg - tiny in comparison I deleted my emails so I have room now. Also, I'm breast feeding so I'm not really sure how much Angus takes, although there is that theory of doing weight x 150ml / number of feeds.

Re: dream feed - I've done this for the last 3 nights and the last 2 nights it woke Angus up. I also tried to express into a bottle last night so that I could be sure that Angus was getting enough. But he woke up and cried and cried, so I couldn't give him much at all. Does everyone do the dream feed? He still wakes up around 3am for another feed, so I'm wondering if he needs it at all??

Well we went to a friends' house this morning and they are planning on having another baby soon (they have 6 between them, but none together). So Angus was held the entire time and got no sleep at all. We went for a drive after so that he got an hours sleep. I think the poor little munchkin went to sleep as soon as he went into his bassinet. I was worried that he would be overstimulated, but we'll see how he sleeps tonight.

Nat we put a big thick photo album under DD's feet in the jumperoo as her feet don't reach the ground either, I'm sure Fisher Price prob don't recommend it but it works!

DD will be okay for a very short time in a strangers arms, but too long, or if people get too loud and really in her face (like MIL did!) she hates it. Our problem is we do not have any family here, a SIL that rarely comes round, and a couple of DH's aunties that we don't generally catch up with, otherwise it is just us. So there isn't really anyone at all to handball DD to! A couple of friends but they either work or have kids of their own, and their own lives, you know, not the regular several visits a week that happen when family lives close. I hate the thought of her only being happy with me/DH or clingy to us, but we honestly don't have any other options. But I do need to remember that she's only 4 months old, so it's not too big an issue at this stage, but I am worried when she gets a bit older. We're doing swimming, checking out Baby Sensory tomorrow (and hope to meet Meercat and the lovely Tiah) and have Mother's Group so I'm hoping that will cover a lot of social interaction for DD as she gets older. She was fine for about half hour with FIL too, but he was really chilled and cruisy with her, not trying too hard if you know what I mean. As they were leaving MIL said next time they fly in we can go out to coffee and they'll babysit. Hmmmm I was so relieved that DH said to me he wouldn't leave her with them because she'd be too upset with strangers, so I'm glad we're on the same page there!

HB - Looking forward to meeting you guys! You wont be able to miss us, Tiah will be the big, bald baby YELLING in any direction she can! She has discovered she can make loud noises and has given up making different sounds.... she just yells as loud as she can now

Nat - We tried the dreamfeed and just ended up with an extra feed through the night It wakes her up as well so we just left it. Tiah goes to bed at 7pm, then wakes at 10,3 and sometimes through till 8. We are trying the dummy and her blankie a few times before I offer her the boob now... just in case she can go without the nighttime feeds because I am starting to really struggle with the lack of sleep!

Mia - Great news on the specialist.... and the sleeping through!

We have the 4 month needles tommorrow... not looking forward to that at. all.

Nat- I was doing the dream feed at 9.30 with Grace for the first 3 months, but i have now dropped it out and she feeds at 8 pm and thats it until she wakes in the morning. It is hard to keep them asleep at this age for a dream feed. I guess you need to ask yourself if he really needs it or not???

we bought a high chair for Hamish today. the steelcraft messina II in charcoal. he loves it!! made giving him lunch so much easier then having him sit on my lap!! PITA to put together tho lol

Hello gorgeous mummies,

Nat, I do the dream feed between 10 and 11 pm (closer to 11 pm on the weekends so he sleeps for longer) and he goes through to at leat 5 am (sometimes 4 when he is naughty). I find that b/c he is half asleep he takes the bottle very easily and quickly w/o waking up. I think I will try to skip it one day and see how long he'll sleep?????? I'm wondering if the dream feed is really necessary.....
As for the feeding and bath time, I was told to do the feed after the bath as if it's done just before they can chuck in the water. If Cam takes the bottle before I get the chance to bath him, I wait about an hour (provided he doesn't fall asleep) and then give him his bath. Today was a perfect example, he was due for a feed at 7, but wanted to feed at 6, so I waited until 8 to give him his bath (would have done it at 7 but the kids came over for dinner). He is asleep now.

Meercat, hehehehe about Tiah being the big bald one!!!! That's how I'd describe Cam! How cute that she discovered her lungs!! Ouchy ouch for the needles tomorrow I thought Cam took his 4 month needles much better than the 2 month ones, hopefully Tiah will be just fine.

B, thanks for the info on your other mummy group, I will sign up as soon as I get the chance

Con, I will try to drop the dream feed, hopefully we don't need it!! I guess I'm scared of waking up at 2 or 3 am, but I won't know until I try hey?

Today, Cam had his first big laugh, it was sooooo cute!! He's been giggling for ages, but today he actually did a full on laugh.

Hi Ladies

Well last night I posted that I would try feeding Angus after his bath - so I expressed about 130ml of milk before DH got home. He had a little play in his jolly jumper and I tried the photo album under his feet which worked really well. But when it was time for his bath he was so hungry and grumpy. He didn't enjoy the bath at all and DH couldn't give him a massage. Then when DH tried to give him the bottle, he screamed! So I went in but he wouldn't take it from me either. The problem was - I'd expressed all my milk, so I didn't have anything left! In the end I attached him to my breast and then shoved the teat in - to trick him

Beata - I didn't do the dream feed last night and Angus work up and 1:40 and 4:40 - but then slept until 9??? I'll try it again tonight and see what happens.

Teresa - I'd like to get a high chair for Angus too. At the moment we just pull his pram up to the table, but he loves to sit with all the big people and see what is going on.

Well we are off to a new playgroup just down the road today. I found them throught Playgroup Australia and sent an email to the contact person asking about their group. She told me that the babies are aged between 4 - 7 mths and the structure is not very formal - "we just sit around and eat chocolate biscuits while the babies kind of look at each other"

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day!

Hey Nat! Just wanted to tell you that if we try to give Cam his bath too close to his next bottle, he doesn't enjoy his bath either and cries sometimes too. I find that if I know I want to feed him around 7 pm (that's his usual bottle) I will give him a bath around the 6 o'clock mark (so we're not rushing through it, I too had to skip a massage once or twice and felt like he missed out on it!). Once or twice i waited till 6.30 and by the time he got out of the water he was pretty unsettled. Kinda took the enjoyment out of the bath for the three of us!! Yay for joining another mother's group! I have our gymbaroo class today. I really hope he enjoys it. He's had a blocked nose for the last couple of days, and they ask you to dress them in footless growsuits/no socks so I hope his nose doesn't get more blocked up!

Thanks Beata I think we'll just stick to feeding him first and then DH can complete the routine. DH had something on last night, so I did the whole bedtime routine and poor Angus was a bit unsettled. In the end I had to let him cry himself to sleep because every time I put him down he would cry. It only took 5 minutes of me being out of the room. I didn't do the dreamfeed last night and he woke at 12 and 4:30, same times as the night before when I did the dreamfeed - so it doesn't make a difference with Angus.

Hope your gymbaroo went well. The lady taking the class got Angus to roll down the foam wedge thing they have and he did it under his play gym today!
