    DD suddenly hates baths

Hope I have posted this in the right place...

DD has always loved bathtime, but in the last couple of weeks she hates them! She will stand up and not sit down, if I try to sit her down she will scream...if I hop in with her she is fine, but I just can't do this every night unfortunately...

Has anyone else had any experience with this? Is it a phase?

    Thanks for any help!

It could just be a phase. Have you thought about showers instead?

we are having the same issue here too. For us, it doesn't matter if he has a bath or shower, even a shower with DH or me won't work. We bought a thomas bath mat hoping that would distract him while in the bath...didn't work. DH hang it off the wall, and then had a shower with DS, and it didnt help either.

DD1 will only bath in the laundry trough atm I think its because thats where I bath DD2 but she refuses to go in the big bath anymore.
On the plus side its good for my back rather than bending over the bath.
Have you tried bathing her in the trough?

Try making the bath cooler, a friend of mine's child did the same thing and it turned out the bath was too hot. If that doesn't work the trough is a great idea or even get her to sit in the bottom of the shower when you shower.

I was going to suggest that it could also be the soaps in the water - it could be stinging (especially for girls because they have an "open" system), but then I read that she was okay when mum got in the bath too, unless the novelty of mum being in there is enough to distract her.

Charlotte went through this at around 10 -12 months...Was horrible - usually she adored baths. She would scream and scream and scream.
(We never put anything in her bath water, although she doesn't much like shampoo, still doesn't, but has no issue with soap/etc)

We worked through it by getting in with her where we could, having showers with her, and when she was really bad we would sponge bath her.
Lasted about the 2 months, but it did get better, the phase passed and she adored baths again, still does.

    Hang in there!

Try the shower for a while and then maybe after a few days try the bath again?

Our son had standing baths for AGES! He was generally happy enough standing up, but not sitting down. Even then he often had 5 second baths because he complained so much. We just kept bathing him pretty much every night (he hated the shower even more) and he eventually passed through it.
