So DD comes out and shows me is massive lump inside her mouth on the outside of her teeth iykwim? i say 'ooooohhhh, we're getting another adult tooth' ..; then ask to look at it again, i realised then, there was pus leaking from this tooth - i ask her to lay down on my lap so i can get a better view, the abcess is draining itself, and is not painful.
I used a tissue to soak up the pus and blood, but am now concered - should i take her to the Dr/dentist tomorrow? or see how she is?
Definitely need to see a dentist. GPs are fairly clueless about dental stuff, although if you absolutely can't get into a dentist, then at least see the GP to get a script for ABs. It's good that it's draining, that's why it's not hurting her. She will possibly need some work done on this tooth, or worse case scenario, need it removed. It's best to keep it in place if possible, but that's not always the case unfortunately. It will likely just reinfect if left untreated, and next time could be more uncomfortable
for her.
Good luck, hope she's okay Let me know if you have any other questions.
It doesn't sound bad . The reason I said that is not because it's bad per se to have an extraction, just that when baby teeth are removed too early, it can mess things up a bit for when the adult teeth are erupting. Which often leads a to a big orthodontic bill down the track! It's often preferable to have the tooth treated, and try and keep it in the mouth until it naturally exfoliates. But hey, if it needs to be removed for one reason or another, no big deal
Are you a dentist Janie? lots of experience there hey
DD actually LIKES having her teeth pulled out each time she has had one pulled, she comes home and makes funny faces in the mirror and giggles at them until the anesthetic wears off of course, then she cant make her faces. Surprisingly, she doesnt have pain afterwards - we have a fantastic Dentist He's so neat and tidy
