hey hun, normally BH is a tightening accompanied by no pain is what i got told on tuesday by the MW but period like pain that comes and goes n lasts a lil bit is assumed to be or may be contractions maybe contact the birth unit n explain to them or maybe monitor them to see how frequent u get them...
dw im the same ive never had an onset of natural labour so im in the same boat lol

    Hi Amali*baby,

yeah i have read the BH is generally painless.... I think i will call the FBC. It has only happened sporadically over the last week for a minute or so at a time. Thanks i'll get onto it.

I've been having it too! Light period pain but not all the time..
I haven't heard that BH were painless!! Everyone I have heard talk about them have said it's like an tightening with period pain or cramps just not as bad as when in labour! Maybe talk to your MW but I wouldn't worry too much...
    FX everything is fine!

hi ladies, sorry about late reply. i,ve had the pain a few more times and i am seeing my midwife next week so i'm just going to chart when i've had it. i am working 36hrs a wk and it is a fairly active job, so i think it could be that i'm overdoing it as i have been very tired.( 32wks now) A girl i work with felt that it could be BH as well, its on my list of things to ask about. Thanks for the love... i'll be in touch xx

Sounds like you are very busy working! If you are feeling more tired then usual maybe you should see about reducing your work hours a little. I've been experiencing light period pains with Braxton Hicks Contractions on and off since about 28 weeks. I'm now 37w 4d and my bub is still cooking It can sometimes be a sign of labour, or in your case, preterm-labour. So just make sure that you and your midwife are both in tune with what you are experiencing... There is lots of preparation going on so it is normal to experience different sensations of course! Good Luck with everything!

Thanks. You are getting pretty close also! I'd say it's just everything preparing for the real deal. I'll be going in any day now hopefully! My 'period like pains' have turned into painful braxtons!!! I'm just waiting for them to hurry up and regulate I hope all goes well with you also!

I just wanted to say that BH's can actually be quite painful. With my DS I had very painful BH that felt and acted like real contractions - even a midwife said that they felt like contractions after she laid her hand on my belly for 15 minutes and I had 3 of them at 5 minutes apart when I was 33wks pregnant with my DS - but as the others have said, always call your care provider and get it checked out.
In saying that, I've also been getting the period-like pains along with the BH's for the past 6 weeks during this pregnancy and have a suspected irritable uterus as well, so it's probably a bit different for me.

Hope things go well for you
