Anyone Know Anything About Drivers Accreditations in Victoria?

I would call the taxi directorate about this, but what with it being a public holiday...

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to get a drivers accreditation (an endorsement on your licence to transport commercial passengers ie a bus or taxi driver), when you haven't held a full victorian licence for 12 months like the website says BUT you have held this endorsement for 4 years in 2 other states?

I ask because we want to move to Victoria next year and DP is a bus driver and needs to have this endorsement to work in the area. Also how long does it take to get an appointment with Vic Roads to transfer an interstate licence to a victorian one?

    TIA

I don't know anything about the bus driver stuff BUT I had a Northern Territory P Plate license, which only lasts for 12 months. I applied for a full Victorian license when I moved here and was told that I'd have to be on my Ps for another two years, because you have to be on your Ps for three years in Victoria (even though if I'd still been in the NT I would have a full license). Not sure itms. I got my P's by practising driving around Eastside in Alice Springs in my Mum's car without a licensed driver next to me.

Appointment at Vic Roads? Good luck. Waiting in line for over an hour has been my experience. But I'm sure they do appointments. I would recommend visiting a non-CBD Vic Roads office. The one in Carlton is a nightmare.

When I changed my licence over from a NSW one to Victoria I made an appointment at the Carlton VicRoads and they called my name out bang on time. It was very easy.

LOL Persephone1. Eastside is still nice and quiet enough to get away with it!

I only mentioned the appointment because that is what the website says, but you know how accurate they are sometimes!

Thanks for that meow, good to know they are punctual and you can't be late!

It's just so frustating because we don't want to move without a job to go to, just for security and peace of mind IYKWIM? I could probably get fulltime work but DP would not cope as a SAHD for more then a couple of days.

We go to the Vic Roads in Burwood and their turnover is pretty good.

Have you tried ringing a bus line in Vic and asking for advice from them. I am sure this is something they come across fairly often and also might be able to give you other advice you might need/want

We have sent resumes to about 4 companies, and one replied saying he needs a current vic licence, the accreditation and working with children check. I am thinking it might be easier to apply to the melbourne depot of his current company so at least he would still be employed while doing all this paperwork.

I would have thought the endorsements would just be changed over from one state to another with the licence is

Give Vic Roads a call tomorrow MIA. There are some things you need an appointment for otherwise they won't see you. I've always found that appts are on time.
