    some mchn's!!

just had my DD's helth check with the MCHN and i can see why some mums get realy upset and down about there visits! seriously some people should just learn to keep there mouths closed!!
ok the first thig she asked me was how much is she eating, and i told her, she has 2-4 bottles a day, some times one during the night if she wakes, and she loves her food she has 2 meals a day, and if i am eating she will want to try what i have, so she has a few snacks most days (not real big ones, just "trials" of what i am eating)
the lady nearly fell of her chair! apparently at almost 9 months she should be on 2 bottles max, no night feeds, and have strict meal plan. i MUST cut her bottles down from 220ml to 80 ml and only 2 a day could even substitute them with cows milk (i thought that was only over 12months..?), and restrict her food. "what you are doing is over feeding her you need to stop letting her have so much"
i was shocked at the acusation i overfeed my baby, but just nodded and agreed, didnt feel much like arguing my point (oh the way she said some things i could have been there all day!)
then come time for measuring, done her length, her head, and while popping her on the scales remarked, "what are we going to get here 50kg?"
she sat down at the computer, done the weight/hight for age charts, and commented,(in a mocking tone) "ok so who has the big head in the family, because hers is off the chart!"
i replied to her, "well that would be me, so she gets it from my side" she was more tame after that!
apparently she is tall for her age.

she weighs 10.1 kg and is in the 97th percentile on the chart
she is 71.8 cm long in the 75th percent
and her head is 48cm and OFF THE CHART!!

the fact she was 8 pound at birth is irrelivant, i need to stop letting her eat so much so at 12 months her measurements should be adverage...
she asked me about how she was going with movement, trying to crawl, so i told her how she isnt very keen on crawling but has figured out how to shuffle on her bum, her reply was "oh god! so when did your older 2 crawl?" told her arround 8 months, straight away put words into my mouth, "oh so you think she is a little slow, bit behind the others already"
no i don not! i am proud she has fugured it out HER WAY, no she hasnt got a huge head, it is in proportion to her body!!

i couldnt wait to get out of the center just so i could laugh at what i was told!!!

if she was my first baby, i would be a wreck right now! i was realy shocked with most of her comments and suggestions. i am not having a go at mchn's in general, i have met quiet a few realy nice ones as well as some who were not all that great, just this one in particular, has absolutly dumfounded me! i will deffinately be requesting a diffrent one when we have new bub!! i hope she is more guarded with her words when she sees the new and first time mums!

if you have read all of this, thank you for your time!

    That is all terrible.

She can go jump for all I care! Obviously you have a happy, health baby who is loved and cared for....pfffft to her! Biatch!

Don't dwell on it hun- she is obviously a control freak with NO communication skills what-so-ever.

the only thing thats realy getting to me about it all is, if she was willing to tell me im over feeding my baby and all the rest, (i hadnt even sat when she started)
what on earth is she saying to the mums with there first bubs who are only learning the ropes or the mums on borderine deppression? i can laugh it off, but not everyone would be able to, especialy coming from someone who is ment to guide you and help, kwim??
im just wondering if i should take it further, just in case she has a problem with that tounge of hers.... or just let it go?

    Some of them are shockers.

It's so hard because a lot of them seem to conform to the standards in the book and don't look at each child individually. My DD was 7lb 9oz born and now she is tiny. She is 16 months and weighs under 10kg, so is such a tiny little dot. The last MCHN I saw though was awesome and looked at my build and said that DD will be fine and looks like she will follow my side. DD eats A LOT but isn't chubby whereas DS ate a lot less and was a chunker!! (DS was just over 10kgs at his 9 month checkup) At DD's 9 months check up I was told to start her on cows milk and to reduce her breastfeeds WTF?!

Take it all with a grain of salt babe and don't let her get to you. You know your bubbas and if there is something wrong, so go with what you know and discard her thoughts.

I would take it further. But in a way that you are concerned that the information she gave you was not correct and if she is telling new mothers the same thing then there could be a problem. Her tone & overall personality seems like she is in the wrong field.
