We have just had HFM in our house. It isn't a severe thing, though I did read it can turn into meningitis on VERY rare occaisions. So just watch if she says she had a headache or sore neck, take her to the GP asap. As for the HFM, there is nothing to do but give her panadol and ride it out. She may not want to eat much due to a sore mouth. My two developed ulcers in their mouths from the blisters they got. Oh the joys. Hugs hun, you are doing it tough lately!
We have just finished an episode in our house too....gee it really seems to be everywhere at the moment. I guess all the usual, panadol, keep up lots of bf's - she will be miserable as it seems to be very uncomfortable for them, lots of cuddles, keep an eye on the fevers. DS's lasted a week, started off with fevers, then after a few days the spots came out. xxx
Gosh, my 7.5 month old has it at the moment, too I was hoping there might be a natural remedy for his pain? I don't mind giving him panadol and nurofen, but he also has a secondary bacterial infection of the blisters on his face so he's also on anti's. The less often I have to come at him with a dosing syringe the better! How long does it take to clear up? We're on a self-imposed house arrest, I would hate to spread this to other babies.
