    Archie or Lincoln ?

    Hello there,

So we're pretty sure we're going to go with Archie (Archer on birth cert), but then we also like Lincoln. It's a bit of a late contender, what do you guys think?

We have a son Felix and our surname begins with 'Ch' and is two syllables.

    Thanks all!

I think Lincoln might go better with your surname as Archie Ch......... might be a bit many "ch" in a row IYKWIM?

I was going to say Archie, but then I agree with MrsMac, 2 Ch's might be a bit much... So then I say Lincoln

I love Archie but DH had an Uncle Archie so it's off our list - so unfair! cos it's a beautiful name! Love the formal Archer and nn Archie. Just gorgeous.

I worked with a Lincoln & he was nn "Linc" and I liked his but I didn't really like his name...

Thank you - please keep the feedback coming!

Thank you! It's a good point, the whole 'ch' sound being repeated. I've asked a few friends about that as I was worried too, but they said our surname would be okay (or maybe they were just being polite?) It's a 'Cha' sound and somehow the 'a' that follows the 'ch' helps soften it? (Am aware I am sounding a bit loony here, analysing letters!)

Would love more honest feedback, so thanks so far and please keep your thoughts coming!

As another mum of an Archie I vote for that, I have a Charlie and and Archie and got comments about both having "ch" sounds but I don't care...I love the names. Though I must be really honest and say I see both Archie & Archer as two separate names. I would go one or the other, I wouldn't think to nn Archer. But perhaps that's just me. I am a fan of calling the name you want. We tossed up between the two and it was Archie that we both loved.

I like Archie and I was thinking Archie Chandler I knew a not very nice Lincoln so I wouldn't vote for that, but I didn't mind the name before I met him.

Yep, I still often get compliments on Archie's name. He is named after his Dad's Scottish Grandfather. So we have Archie and Old Arch
