Nail painting on the little ones

So i just saw a pic from someone on my FB of her little 8 month old girl and she had painted her toe nails .
I was a little shocked , i personally would not do this at all.

What are your thoughts , am i missing something here? Why would she paint her baby's nails

Wow, that's weird. DD has her feet in her mouth all the time just now (the flexible little bugger that she is!) so I'd be worried about her eating the nail polish.

my DD1 is 4, she came home from seeing the SIL with a mani andpedi, which she proceeded to chew off with her teeth. i lost my nut!! and she's 4!!! no way on a teeny 8 mnth old!

Every now and then when I am painting my toes I'll do DD2's, she thinks it is very funny to see and feel. It isn't an everyday occurance, but just for fun. Maybe it was one of those things?

I wouldn't on a baby, I'd be worried they'd suck it off. I've put it on DD2 a couple of times, and DD1 likes hers to get done every couple of weeks. But she doesn't bite her nails.

I've done it to both my daughters

They haven't bothered to eat the polish off, it usually wears off as they're crawling. DD2 thinks it is wonderful and shows off her toes to everyone by pointing and saying 'toes' with a big smile.

My mum does my DD's - she is 3.5yo. I can't remember what age she first did it, but my DD was over the putting her fingers & toes into her mouth. My DD loves her nails painted - always pink!

I wouldn't paint my babies toe nails either! But I have painted my 3 year olds as a special treat! and I've just bought her a tiny bottle of kid safe nail polish for christmas..just as something special! I'm not really a nail polish person and I only wear it for weddings etc, but I thought it could be like a 'dress up' thing for her.

I certainly wouldn't use adult nail polish on a baby...yuck..nasty

I do with my DD who's 3 1/2, but not when she was tiny. I only do it now because she sees me with some on, or sees me doing it and asks for some too.

It's actually never even occured to me to paint my DD's toe nails. But like others have said, maybe your friend just did it for a bit of fun. And to give her the benefit of the doubt, one would think she wouldn't have done it if her baby was a toe sucker.

Not at 8 months old, DD has recently become obsessed with makeup so some pale pink nailpolish keeps her happy & out of my makeup (she's nearly 2 & a half)

It wouldn't have occurred to me to paint the kids' nails that young, but as long as it is non toxic I don't see the harm. Girltwin often has her nails painted when I do mine, and the boys sometimes ask too but aren't as fussed by "pretty" as my girl.

I'm kinda impressed she got her 8 month old to sit still long enough to paint her nails! Maybe she was asleep when she did it?
