What type of amber did you buy?
I would also probably buy a necklace if the ankle isn't working.
My 6 month DS has two bottom teeth which he never seemed to have any issues (pre-amber) with except that he dribbles like crazy.
I bought an amber anklet for him and he has been wearing it almost constantly for over two weeks now but I have not seen any change. I have read in other places that some babies respond within a couple of days.
I am now wondering whether the anklet is just not enough amber or whether it is not effective for everyone?
Can anyone shed any light on how long is long enough to give the amber time to help reduce dribbling?

I didn't realise it did anything for dribbling - thought it just had an analgesic effect.
It is Baltic Amber from a company that was recommended to me by Essential Moves (Baby Sensory) and two Mums I have met.
I know it is an analgesic as the main purpose but lots of feedback on websites & Mummy's I have spoken to say that it helps to cut dribbling by at least half if not more. I was hoping it would help us as DS is a fabulous dribbler!
I just found this on the site I bought it from....
Amber reduces red inflamed cheeks and stimulates the thyroid glands to reduce drooling.
I've had one on DS for about a week now and i have seen a slight reduction in dribbling, i actually went bib-less today where normally i go through 4-5 bibs a day (not including ones for meals!). At around 5pm though he all of a sudden completely soaked his top with drool, so not sure what that was all about, seems to work some times but not others?
Try a necklace and see if it works, but its effects on individuals will be different, and may not be strong enough to help your DS.
Also, look up the cleansing rituals for Baltic Amber, it may need to be cleaned and charged.
we've had an amber necklace here for about 10 months & i haven't noticed any change in DS' dribbling. i'm not entirely sure it's helped a great deal with his teeth either - his first ones were fine but the molars & eye teeth were pretty bad.
We wore a necklace here for a long time too, but no change in the dribbling...my DS is a champ at it though. I took it off after tooth number 20 at just over 12months though. Didn't notice it got worse afterwards either.
I can't see how it would help with drooling. Some babies just drool teething or not. Here's a really great blurb that might help:
I knew plenty of babies that drooled but never had a problem with teething... but they were gapers LOL as in they would constantly have their mouths open. Why Do Babies Drool?
Though it's commonly blamed on teething, drooling usually starts around the second month, a good five months or more before most babies cut their first tooth, notes Jennifer Shu, MD, coauthor of Heading Home with Your Newborn: From Birth to Reality (American Academy of Pediatrics). This increased saliva production has less to do with baby's teeth than with what he'll soon be chewing. The drool dripping down his chin is full of digestive enzymes, which will help break down the solid foods he'll start eating between 4 and 6 months. Incidentally, babies don't produce more saliva than adults. But they tend to let the saliva run out rather than swallow it, observes Dr. Shu. This is especially true when baby is teething -- and gnawing on things to relieve the pressure in his gums -- which may be why we link the two.
Ummm amber is a natural pain relief that is absorbed via the skin when worn.
I dont see how this could then cut down or stop drooling...hmmmmm
Excessive drooling (especially in older toddlers/children) can sometimes be an indication of enlarged tonsils / adenoids, as they tend not to swallow saliva as easily. DS had his out two weeks ago and his drooling has decreased significantly. He would soak a teeshirt in ten minutes, even at the age of nearly three.
But like others have said, amber has analgesic properties, it wouldn't stop drooling, even drooling associated with teething, which is more to do with lack of swallowing, and saliva production due to friction on the gums.
Rouge - thank you for posting re: why babies drool. Maybe that is why DS eats so much! He at a whole banana yesterday morning! Lots of good digestive enzymes!!!
As per my post above, the site I bought the anklet from states that 'Amber reduces red inflamed cheeks and stimulates the thyroid glands to reduce drooling. '.
DS soaks 6 or more bibs a day plus we go through 4 or more shirts and then we use separate bibs for feeding. It is annoying but bearable but I really wanted the amber to helpas we are flying to London next week and the constant change of clothes is going to be a pain (esp since his new thing is to scream when changing his top), it also means we have to carry extra on-board. My plan was for him to wear Wondersuits throughout the flight but given that he gets so wet I think he will be wearing separate pants & shirts.
i recently got an amber necklace for dd, i have noticed her dribbling ease up alot, but she has since wearing it stoped chewing on her finger and pressing on her gums, also hasnt needed her dummy unless tired so that might be why.. does he always have things in his mouth? that might be causing it?
ETA: for your flight, could you use a plastic/rubber backed bib, and have a regular ione on top, so you can just change the one and not have to worry about it soaking threw his clothes?
Sorry havent read all the replies, but it helps with DS drooling. Whenever he had the necklace off or its forgotten to be put back on he drools heaps. Once the necklace has been on for at least 12hrs theres no more drool. Coincidence perhaps dunno but it works for DS.
very interesting with how it helps then.
Wonder if you could use some PUL backed bib's, PUL is thiner then the plastic bibs and their not crunchy and blerg after washing them
