Question Does it really matter? help please!

When DS was due for his 4 month needles he got a throat infection one week, and bronchiolitis the next, so didn't get them done til 5 months old...

DS is now 9 months old and still hasn't had his 6 (or 7) month needles - I forgot to get them done in the first place, and now I'm not sure if I want to get them done!

I haven't done any real research reading on the pros and cons, but just because 'everyone' gets them done doesn't mean we need to? Just like 'most' people use disposable nappies because they're 'easier', we have chosen to go cloth, because we feel that's a better choice for us... ITMS??

Am I putting my son's health at risk for not getting his needles?

At the end of the day it's your choice. My opinion should have no bearing on your child

Honestly, there's risk on both sides darl - you need to decide which risk you're willing to take. It's hard, there's so much conflicting information out there. But the best thing you can do is ask your doctor questions, find out what is in the vaccination, find out what could happen if B didn't get the vaccination. For instance, if he didn't get the chicken pox vac, he'd probably get chicken pox down the track. But if he DOES have it, it'll only cover him til he's 7 or 8, and having chicken pox then might be worse. I don't know what the side effects of the vac are, that's something you'd need to take into account as well.

Remember, you also don't need to stick to the schedule - you can break up the vacs if you want to, so B's system isn't overloaded.

Geez, no help there hey? LOL! Seriously though, it's a tough decision, one that you and your partner should talk about and research together

Totally agree with this. I have never told anyone whether we vaccinate or not. Probably never will. None of their business. Like Keike has suggested, look in what the vaccinations are and decide from there if you want that or not.

Most of our vaccinations were delayed. Like Keike says, there are risks with delaying vaccinations, but there are also risks with getting them. I think your decision is totally justifiable, after all it was the same decision i made plenty of times. I wanted the girls to be in full health when having a vaccination.

As the others have suggested - do your research and make your decision. It's YOUR choice at the end of the day .

I'm pro-vaccination, but that's my choice. I figure the diseases have only been erradicated because of the vaccinations. Neither of my kids have suffered any probs with their shots to date ... touch wood - DS2 got his 12 month shots today!

It's totally up to you, but don't do either unless you research for yourself first. Of course it matters.

I recommend reading 'The Vaccine Book' by Dr Sears.

I think the main thing is to make an informed choice. Personally I wouldnt feel comfortable not vaxing 'just because', just as I don't think vaxing as per the schedule without considering if it suits your child is a great way to go IYKWIM. We only partially vax on a delayed schedule and I completely support everyones educated choices on vaccinating- whether they choose to vax or not.

Personally I am pro-vax. But that is me and I am not going to say that just because I am you should be. I have the utmost respect for those who 'choose' not to vaccinate their children based upon research they've undertaken. But from the way your post is written it sounds to me like you're being complacent about a choice that has a direct impact on your Childs well being (sorry if that's harsh, it's just my take on what you've said).

What nappies your son wears as a baby isn't going to effect his long-term well being, but a choice to vax or not to vax may very well.
