A question of great importance. Please help me if you can.

Does anyone know what shoes girls wear in high school?????

DD's uniform list states 'black school shoes', which could pretty much mean anything! DS wears black runners but I don't know what the girls wear. I don't want to be getting the wrong ones now, do i?

What shoes do your girls in high school wear?

I've just found a pair of Colorado shoes called GHETTO. Do you think they'd be suitable?

OMG I can't believe how stressed I am about shoes

I wore black school shoes or my docs. Can you ring the school to check? Or maybe check at the shoe shop locally that services the school area? Is it a private or public school?

I used to just wear some nice Colorado's. I think for certain classes with labs or practicals (science, cooking, arts, shop), they needed to be closed in, and sometimes the specify leather uppers. I liked my low Mary Janes, but they weren't closed in (similar to the Ghetto shoe), so I think I ended up going with ones like the "Atlas" and they were perfect.

I wore t-bars too (we called them Scampers) but then when I moved up here and wore them they were apparently geeky and I got picked on!

You're right Lulu, I can't be getting this shoe thing wrong. It could ruin her whole school career!!

I wore Black Etnies ( like a jogger, but skate shoes) in high school
Bt in primary black leather closed in ones , rock was my face brand, I had mary janes one year, when they were cool.

maybe ask some of her friends mothers what they have bought, so they won't feel left out, I used to hate it when I went a different way to everyone, if they have something different she will probably want them .... Best of luck!

My DD wears ballet flat style shoes with a strap that goes over the top of the foot. They're the most common type of shoe worn at her school.

Actually I remember SDD coming home with a pair of back lace ups with a big heel. I made her take them back I think, there were NOT everyday shoes. My DD wears the Tbars, hmmmmm it must be a geographical thing lol

i'm a high school teacher and most of the girls wear T bars or black ballet shoes (if the school allows these). T bars were daggy for a while there, but now they're considered old-skool retro cool iykwim?

I see a lot of girls from this school wearing those little black ballet flats but I'm not buying a $10 pair of shoes for school only to have to buy several $10 pairs throughout the year when I can buy 1 good pair and have them last a year. Is that too 'mum' of me?

I don't think this school really cares about which shoes the kids wear as long as they are black. DS has never been in trouble for wearing his black runners. The girls wear leggings under their dresses too, so I really don't think the uniform policy is too strict. We'd have NEVER gotten away with anything like that! It was tights, stockings or nothing.

At my kids school they wear the Clark's Mary Janes, you know, with the strap over the top. Either velcro or buckle. Lace-ups are NOT cool (or so my 13 year old niece tells me!!). We are in Vic. I reckon it probably is geographical, which state are you in Tinks?

Geez, my DD is going to be bitterly disappointed when she hits High School! She'll be getting shoes that are good for her feet regardless of fashion! I hated when Mum said that to me!

Around here, I see a lot of girls wearing standard Clark School Shoes...or runners. Seriously. The school's don't seem to care too much but the kids all wear standard shoes. Good luck with it!

T-bars all the way! (with the buckle undone...OBVIOUSLY way cooler that way )

T-bars seen to be the standard shoe I see around Melbourne.

OMG PZ! When I lived in the Western Suburbs (in like 1988) buckles undone was sooo totally cool! However, it wasn't cool when I moved out here.....They just didn't understand fashion

Was (and pretty sure still is) TOTALLY cool when I was at school...2002-2006. But I was unco and would just fall over, so my (poo brown) t-bars were always done up.

Our kids are at a Catholoic schol, and they are VERY strict on the whole uniform.

We got a form with the ticks and crosses next to all different shoes so we know what they can and cant wear!!!
A bit funny, but hey, makes it easy!!

If the school doesnt care, let her choose, with some friends, which ones she wants, with some input from mum!!!
