Please recommend next books to read???

    Hi,

I'm sure I created a thread a few months ago that had a lot of recommendations of books to read - but it seems to be gone...so here I am again.

I read my first books since high school last year...when I read the Twilight series and I LOVED them. In my last thread someone recommended reading the Tomorrow series...which I did - all 7 plus the 3 Ellie Cronicles too - finished them just before christmas.

So now I need more recommendations please. I know there was a few other suggestions I thought I'd like...but cannot remember them now and silly me didn't even seem to have written them down (or if I did who knows where they are).

So I don't really know what type of books I like, but obviously teen ones seem to be a common theme at this stage. I think I might like vampires ones, supernatural and ones with a little bit of action and possibly a little romance too. But happy to give any a try. I also don't mind series type ones, cause at least that keeps me going for a while.

    Thanks again in advance,

I really loved the Black Magician Trilogy or the Priestess of the White Trilogy... Both by Australian author Trudi Canavan. They have a magical theme, and the Priestess series is slightly more "adult"... It's written for an older audience. I loved both. I didn't read them for the 'adult' content.

Another series both DH and I like is The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's got heaps of books in the series. Will keep you going for a while. Also a magical theme. Seems to be what I like to read lol.

    Happy reading!

Oh, and I thought I'd add this... It's not a book, it's an audio drama. It's called The Leviathan Chronicles. The first series is available free from iTunes.... If you're interested. It's good to listen to.

I have been on a reading frenzy lately. Lots of teen books as they are a bit easier to read when you have kids around.

The first series I loved was the vampire academy series by Richelle Mead, there are 6 books.

Second series is The Mortal instruments series by Cassandra Clare, there are 3 books plus a prequel.

Third I am reading now and loving is, The house of night series by P.C and Kristin Cast, 6 books so far and more to come!

    They are all supernatural themed.

I'm reading Portia De Rossi's book 'Unbearable Lightness' at the moment and it's brilliant - heartbreaking but amazing.

I also just recently read The Kite Runner which was another awesome read and Eat Love Pray is one of my faves.

Next on my list is My Sister's Keeper which will cause a few tears I'm sure!!! The Steig Larson books are also on my 'to read' list

The tomorrow series is great reading, even as an adult. It surprises most people :-)

If I'm after something I can dip in and out of I go for Cathy Kelly or Monica McIrnerny (loved The Alphabet Sisters)

Jodi Picoult is great, fan of hers here too.

You might like Janet Evanovich too, start with One For The Money, crime novels that are a laugh and have romance (not mushy romance either) in them. Great books. I think there is about 14 of them to this point, all running in sequence.

And for the best ever thriller that you won't put down - Tell No One by Harlen Coben. I read it from start to finish in one sitting and it always sold well when I worked for Collins, and then the buyer would come back within a day or two to get his other books!

If you like vampires, action, and romance (read s e x) then you can't go past the True Blood series by Christine Harris. Very easy to read as well. Another easy to read chick lit series is the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.
Second Jodi Piccoult, especially My Sister's Keeper (much better then the movie), and Plain Truth.
I also liked Tully by Paullina Simons

The Bronze Horseman series by Paullina Simons, absolutely adored them.

Am currently reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and it's really great!

The Secret Life of Bees, excellent, can't recall author sorry!

Also Water for Elephants, I think by
Sara Gruen or similar. Loved it - really touched my heart.

Yeah the sookie stackhouse novels are great, they are the true blood books. I think it is Charlaine Harris not Christine though . Her other series of books are great too. The best one after Sookie is The Harper Connelly series!

Wow...thanks alot for all those suggestions....they all sound really good

So this time I've written them down and look forward to reading them. Think I will start from the top and work my way down the recommended list - I'm particularly looking forward to the supernatural type themed ones suggested....so will definitely start with them - just depends which ones I find first at the library or book store.

Did you's all buy them or borrow them?

I went to our local library last year when I'd finished the Twilight series with intentions of borrowing either the True Blood series and/or the Tomorrow series and found they barely had any (only the 1st of the Tomorrow series which was out). Its so silly . Might have to go to another library that stock more maybe . I know one of my friends has the True Blood series so when I see her next will look at borrowing them from her - something I've been meaning to do for a couple of months now anyway.

But thanks again for all the suggestions. If there is anymore keep them coming though....I'll get around to reading them I'm sure eventually...cause I've discovered I really love reading now.

    Thanks again,

I buy my books, well before DD anyway. I have a lot of books But I reread them over and over, so I guess it was justified. I find the library here has a very minimal selection too, annoying when you're after something specific.

    Have fun reading!
