    LPG ducted heating

Does anyone here have ducted heating running on LPG?

Just wondering how much it costs to run.

We have heating vents throughout out house but no motor thing, I was wondering whther it would be worth having it all hoooked up. Do you think it would be cheaper than buying wood?

Do you have to buy bottled gas?

Bottled gas is incredibly expensive. we recently upgraded to reverse cycle air con for heating just so we could get rid of the gas guzzling fake log gas heatEr. it was costing $2500+ in gas just to run the heater minimally.

I think DH did cost comparisons of all the diff heating types and will ask him later, but pretty sure you will still be better off buying wood in. (if you are on bottled gas).

IF you have piped in gas, it might be worth it

No we don't have natural gas out here, they put it through a couple of years ago but they couldn't get it to our area apparently. So yeah, we'd have to buy bottled gas. Did you have the big bottle they come and fill up or just the small ones?

My SIL has it for a 5 bedroom house & it costs the earth over winter. It's a shame you don't have gas connected

We had big bottle they would come fill up with the truck. Ducted heating is most efficient method if you have natural gas. Reverse cycle most efficient if you dont, followed by wood fire

I was told not to bother if you have bottled gas, it's just way too expensive!

The house on the corner who have ducted heating (we had a squiz when it was for sale), have just had their gas bottle removed. I guess they worked out it was too expensive, and have gone back to wood. i don't know them well enough to ask how much it cost.

if you can find out how many litres of gas your unit costs per hour, you could do a rough calculation by asking how much your local gas provider charges per litre and estimate how often you would have it on

I found info on the sustainability website. It actually doesn't look too bad.
