    Working within the Public Sector.....

DH is thinking about trying to get a job in the public sector...doing what im not sure but he is desperatly trying to find a new carer he can get into as the one he is trained in at present (chef) he is no longer able to work in (shoulder injury).

Has anyone got any experience in this field and could give me any inside info on what to do, how to help him get into a job in that area etc.

    Thanks

I know of a few people that were chefs and are now working as teachers doing VET courses at high school. He would obviously have to retrain, but he may be able to get a scholarship. Maybe he could investigate this avenue?

I'm not sure of your location. If you're in NSW, check out jobsnsw (website).
Applying for Public Sector jobs is some what different to the Private Sector. There is a Selection Criteria you must meet, i.e. answering questions to show your capabilities for the position.

Perhaps your DH could go to an Job Agency and put his name down. The majority of people in our office started off as a temp and that lead to permanaency.

    How about Corrective Services?
