EJ, the thread I was thinking of relates to Gaviscon, but maybe it's the same deal I think a lot of these things tend to thicken things up, so very likely cause constipation also. It may not be a problem for her - maybe just wait and see.

Maybe I need to find an osteo... sounds like magic
We spent 3 hours this morning wandering aimlessly around the local shopping mall as it's so incredibly hot here - well it's the humidity that's the problem as we have an evaporative air cooler which is useless in this weather. 38 again tomorrow and storms apparenlty (a cyclone, yay). Poor DD - I've managed to get her to sleep without being wrapped. The air being like it is, it's kinda like being wrapped all the time anyway.

MadB i do not know how you are doing it!? Looking after a little one in that weather would be so tricky. Thanks for the link i'll try look at it after dinner and when things settle down a little. I gave Harper infant gaviscon for about 1 day so not sure if that coinsides with waiting for this pooey bott or not, i think she last had it early tuesday.

Anyway i've been a bad mum and neglecting (not really) my children for the computer today. I'm trying to design some photo books for each of the kids with the portraits we've had done. We had some taken of Aidan at 6months and then Charlie and Harper as newborns. I've also managed to be able to put their birth stories in each one of them (brilliant idea i had lying awake in bed last night). A special momento for me to keep and pass on to them when the time comes.

    Better go it's dinner time!!

Hi all... Gees I've had a rough few days. What's happened to my sleeping baby??????? He has been so unsettled during the day. Yesterday he just slept all morning, but from 12 onwards he just wouldn't sleep and cried and cried and cried and cried and cried. I wanted to avoid using the dummy as I don't want him to get use to sleeping with it but by 7.15pm when I just wanted a shower and some peace I gave in. He still only dozed anyway, kept waking when it fell out but at least I got a shower in. Once I gave him his last feed he went down at 8.30pm as he usually does, no problem. I woke up at 3am & couldn't get back to sleep. By 4am I decided I'd had enough so I woke Eden to feed him so I could have a coffee.... I am now seriously contemplating taking him to the witch doctor I was telling EJ about. I am wondering if a feed, play, sleep routine (which I did with DS1 and he was perfectly routined) will help but I just don't seem to have the time, or energy to do it. He just cries all the time. Thank god DH is off work next week, we're heading to Sydney to stay with MIL & then my sister so that'll give me a nice break from cooking, cleaning & looking after DS1. And definately catch up on some sleep. Gosh I don't know how EJ & Cathie do it with all those kids.

Anyway.,.. On a brighter note.... Eden had his 6 week check up on Thursday. His growth is a fair bit above average. Apparantly by 6 weeks babies usually put on between 1.2 & 1.4kgs & he's put on 1.6. They also grow on average 6cm, he has grown 9 (although they could have got the measurement wrong at birth) He's 5.1kgs & 58cms long.

For those that are breastfeeding... How is your appetite? I just can't stop eating. I literally eat all day long. As I am trying to lose weight (lost 700grams last week, yay) I am of course eating very very healthy, like heaps of fruit & veges, but I just eat all day. Is it just me? I have been taking the kids in the pram every second day & doing a power walk for an hour so that may be increasing my appetite too. Anyone else feeling this way?

Good morning ladies (or is it?? sorry about the lack of sleep)

Well we were up bright and early to drop DH off at his work to go with all his mates on a Bux weekend. Why does he get all the fun???? Not too many plans for the weekend, it's going to start warming up here. MadB i must have jinxed myself by mentioning the heat you guys have been getting. We're expecting a warm week now, 40 tomorrow Just when Harper seems to be settling down i hope the heat doesn't bother her too much.

MadB had a read of that thread, thanks for that. Harper finally had a poo yesterday and it wasn't anything overly huge considering but it was still a little thicker. I'll see how it all goes and discuss it with my doctor when i see him.

Georgi in amoungst the silent reflux i had a few days like you are describing. Talk about double wammy. There were definatley a few days where Harper slept beautifuly in the morning but wouldn't in the afternoon. We do seem to be on the other side of both now (reflux under control and sleeping well). The last few days she has managed the feed, play, sleep pattern really well and i've barely been able to keep her up before she's begging to go back to bed. Harper will be 8 weeks tomorrow and the 5-7 week mark was definately the most difficult so far. Maybe this is just going to be a bit of a difficult stage for Eden also and there will be improvement soon for you. See how you go.

Girls i feel so guilty for not having the sleeping issues you are, i am exhausted by the time i hit the pillow each night and there is no effort needed to get to sleep at all. Even after feeding, again the second i hit the pillow i'm gone. I've actaully been lying down to feed again (now that the reflux isn't so bad), Harper seems comfortable to do it again which is nice. Well better go check the boys they are outside with my mum.

    Enjoy your weekend girls

So glad Harper has settled. Gees, I hope you're right. I can handle another couple of weeks, just hope it doesn't go for longer. I'm so envious that you can sleep. I never had a problem with DS1. Just got up, fed then straight back to sleep again. Nope, not this time......

Eden hasn't poo'd since Monday. I don't know if that contributing to it. He fed at 4am went back to sleep, woke at 7am so I tried to feed him again but he didn't want it. He just cried & cried & cried. He has never refused a feed before. By 7.45am I noticed he was sleepy so I put him in his cradle. I went back 15mins later & he was still awake, quietly, so I left him, he's sound asleep now. I need to take DS1 for a hair cut at 9.30 so I need to wake Eden and hope he'll take a bit of a feed so he won't get feral at the shops.

Oh, and I've just saved the witch doctors number in phone in case I crack it

Good idea to keep it on hand Georgi. I have a problem of thinking no it'll be all ok during business hours and then come the weekend or after 5pm i'm kicking myself saying why didn't i just call and make an appt. It's strange, i do have confidence but then i doubt myself so much sometimes also. Crazy little mind

It's funny you mention routines. I realised the other day that during the day at least DD does feed play sleep. DS never had any routine at all - no chance! he was more feed, feed, feed, scream, feed, nap, feed.... etc

He might be getting uncomfortable if there's a poo coming up. He's also at that 6-week stage - it's often a couple of weeks of more unsettled behaviour and crying etc. You'll be through it soon... He's certainly growing really well!

Georgi I'm eating heaps too, but unlike you I'm not being very good.

DS has a play date today with some friends' kids. I think it was slightly cooler overnight. I'm hoping that this cyclone will at least bring some rain, if not cooler weather.

    Hey girls,

MadB - how's the weather today? hope it's not too hot for you, stay safe with the cyclone over there!! We own a house in Ayr - North Queensland (I grew up there) and there is a cyclone headed directly for there!! Luckily we got the trees lopped the other week (big sigh of relief!!). I hope your DS has a lovely time playing with his friends and it's not too warm for them!

EJ - Those photo books sound lovely!! I bet you're having a great time doing them...what a great idea to include the birth stories!! I am sooooooooooo happy for you that things are settling down for you and Miss Harper!!!!! you must be so relieved. You definately sound a lot happier. I'm not having trouble sleeping once I can get to bed but it's getting to bed that's the issue...but we're working through it, it'll pass.

Audux - wow - what a rough week away you had!!! I am totally with you on the passing around of the baby. I'm the exact same with Jacob - he gets sooooo overtired and CRANKY! But his family think it's cause I am a b**** also.. *sigh* can't win.. I am always getting lectured by my inlaws but I am the one who deals with him all day every day so I just let it go over my head. We know whats best for our bubs. I hope your two days went to plan and you and your little one are back on track.

Georgi - I am having issues with Jacob too - he was in beautiful little routine and we were both soooooo happy......but that's gone out the window, he is really fussy at the moment and I just don't know what he wants. His feeding is all over the place (again!), sometimes he wants to sleep beside me and nowhere else and sometimes it's the basinette and nowhere else.... it's like a guessing game hour to hour here. I hope Eden settles a little for you, sounds like it's all fairly normal for their age. Definately a hungry breastfeeder here too...I am eating as healthy as possible but I just can't get enough food at the moment!! Thankfully my weight is dropping and not gaining!! I've been eating mostly healthy as I am not entirely sure on what kind of things you're supposed to stay away from while breastfeeding... I used to enjoy a diet coke every once in a while but now I'm not sure if I can or not so I just avoid it to be safe. Probably a good thing for my weight loss!

AFU - same same...few catnaps here and there - as I said to Georgi sometimes he wants to sleep with me, sometimes just wants the basinette on his own....feeding is up the creek again - makes me doubt my supply but when I express some by hand I have no problem getting milk...he doesn't cry at the boob and he's not screaming between feeds, he seems generally pretty happy so hopefully it's not a supply issue. When he's feeding he definately gulps and there is plenty of milk around his mouth during and after his feed. The good news is he goes four hours between his last feed before bedtime so I get to at least midnight before his next feed, then it's back to 2-2.5 hourly. We're managing though, I guess it's just another one of those 'stages' and it'll all fall back into place soon. Till then we'll just take it a day at a time.

Hope you're all having a great day xoxo Sorry for any one that I missed, I didn't go back to check on the last thread, but thinking of you all as always!

Georgi - my appetite is fairly well normal. I'm kind of surprised. I do drink a LOT of water though. On a 30+ day, I drink close to 5L.

Our little bunny does feed-play-feed-rock-feed-sleep pretty religiously. The play part is about an hour at a time at the moment, less in the morning, more in the evening. Night times are still brilliant though, so I try not to stress too much about the day sleeps. She has gone for 8 hours twice overnight! She does usually sleep better at night after a peaceful day though.
Today was not a peaceful day though, so she is in the sling and I am ignoring the housework. If I ignore it long enough, it sometimes goes away

Our drama on Thursday - caught the bus up to the hospy for physio class. Bus driver was heading for an intersection but the light was red. I was nervous, but trying to assume the best. Another passenger started yelling though, and lucky he did - driver hadn't seen the red light and was heading for an enormous truck. She pulled up half a metre short. We all fell forward, and a grocery trolley went flying down the aisle. DD was in the Ergo, but if she'd been in the pram...

    I love babywearing

bloody hell audax. glad she wasn't in the pram.

Jules, you have no problem with supply. I promise you (how much has he gained again...)

I'm feeling frazzled. maybe it's just the heat and/or lack of sleep.

    Hi all,

MadB I find the shopping centre a useful refuge at the moment too Although on Friday there were a lot of frantic and fed up parents with school-age kids!

EJ the photobooks sound beautiful I'll need to do something similar - we have lots of photos but of course they haven't been printed!

Georgi, brilliant on Eden's growth! And I think if you're eating that much good food and taking weight off then you're fine. Wish I had the discipline you do! I'm barely hungry at all now I'm not bf, I really have to remind myself to eat (the heat doesn't help). So when I do eat I tend to go for treats rather than decent food!

Hi Jules It doesn't sound like a supply issue at all - I could barely express anything, either by pump or manually when my supply started going, and there was no way Amelia would sleep 4 hours at a stretch at any time without comp feeding. Relax, you're doing great

Audax... PHEW. Thank goodness you had her in the sling. LOL at the housework though, wish ours did itself!

As for us... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh I need some sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. It's not Amelia's fault, it is totally my inability to switch off. My wonderful sister-in-law has given me some sleepytime tea which is about to be brewed, but yesterday I was completely wrecked and today I'm not much better. When I do sleep I have very anxious dreams, so wake up unrefreshed. The one nice dream I have had I was bf Amelia again, so I woke up sad. The parent support group starts up again tomorrow and my MCHN will be there so I'll speak to her again, then if things haven't improved after a couple of days I'll go to my GP and get that referral. It's rediculous because since Mum left I have been managing really well and we've had a lovely few days - I think it's my subconscious ganging up on me. Blah.

Millie is doing well - the new formula seems to be agreeing with her and because I'm calmer, she's been really good. We were out and about most of Friday and yesterday so she's a bit tired today, but at Mass this morning she was perfectly behaved, even unwrapped (it was hot and for once I had put her in a cute outfit rather than a onesie, which I thought might have bunched up in her wrap). She's been a bit unsettled tonight but it was very warm upstairs so we have her down here in her bouncer. I'm trying to swap her night feed over from 2am back to 10pm so will see how that goes...

    Night all

Going to go to bed early tonight Well it's been about midnight the last few nights so 10:30pm is early. Today mum and i got the sewing machine out and i've been sewing bibs. I'd been admiring some handmade items on the internet and possibling going to make a purchase and then i realied i could probably do it myself. And then looking around Harper's room i've got a few ideas on how i can decorate that also. I'm so motivated and excited. The bibs turned out quite well and i bought a few patterns for some clothing. I want to make Harper some A frame dresses and i got a pattern for a gorgeous pair of jeans and baby doll top. I'll think i'll make them size 1 for next summer. Anyway things are pretty good here, today was hot but i kept the air on so we were quite comfortable.

Hope everyone is happy and well.

    Sleep vibes to all... zzzzzzzzzzz

I've just realised i've made over 1000 posts OMGosh

    Congrats EJ!!!!

Sorry ladies, I started writing personals this morning but not sure where my day went. Had Will attached to my boob most of the afternoon, very unsettled. Not sure why, as we were downstairs which is very cool (like 24degrees) but he wouldn't stop whinging. Very cute though, Pip wanted to "read" him a book, it was a touchy-feely book and he kept grabbing Will's hand to make him feel the different textures. Would have been better if Will wasn't attached to me at the time. And I scratched my nipple, it's now very sore. Darnit.

Hope everyone's doing well in this heat across the country.

EJ - Lol, yep, I do the same. When it's not business hours I think to make an appointment. The witch doctor works from home so I have her home & mobile numbers. I sent her an email the other day to see that she still does it and she responded with a yes. So I've attempted contact

MADB - Glad I'm not the only one eating the house out. I wonder if I wasn't eating so healthily would I not eat as much??? Hmmm

JULES - I guess I should know better that babies do go through these stages on and off for at least 12 months. I've been lucky with my boys that they have always been 3 to 4 hourly feeders, mainly 4. Thankfully Eden will feed when I want him to, though Byron never did. What time is Jacob's last feed before bed? Do you go straight to bed afterwards? Don't doubt your milk supply. It sounds perfect to me. As long as the baby keeps feeding you'll keep making milk

AUDAX - Your so lucky to have a normal appetite. Gosh, I wish I did. I bet you have bounced back into your pre baby shape already hey? Wow, 5 litres is impressive. I'm drinking loads too. But I wouldn't drink more than 4 litres, I don't think. I'm pretty sure I drink around 3/3.5ltres a day. Lol, I wish my housework would go away if I ignored it. It only gets worse lol. Oh my.... Lucky for that person to yell out to the bus driver. Holy crap

PURPLEP - I bet you don't have 8kgs to lose though hey???? It's always the case that when you have weight to lose your hungry all the time lol. I'm still not sleeping well but I'm not as bad as you. I tend to sleep the first 5 or 6 hours good, then it all turns pear shape from there so I really shouldn't complain.

KAZBAH - Oh so cute Pip reading the book. Byron just loves Eden now and wants to play with him. Thankfully he's such a gentle boy so it's so cute to see. Hope that nipple's holding up

Well ladies... I feel terrible for whinging the other day. The very next day my gorgeous baby returned to normal and has been an angel since. He's actually just been sleeping the past two days and hardly crying at all. He slept till 4.50am this morning... And, DS1 has been sleeping to 6.30am. I've cut down his day sleeps so he's sleeping in in the morning. But of course now that Eden is getting up at that time, I don't care if DS1 does cause I'm awake anyway!

I have no problem getting to sleep at night. Normally around 9 or 9.30pm. But I tend to wake around 3am and can't get back to sleep. This morning I dozed from 2.45am, which is better than being wide awake, but from 4.30am I was wide awake. My BB was sooooo full and starting to get sore. I was contemplating waking Eden just to feed to relieve some pressure. Though he woke not long after anyway.

I have a busy morning this morning so best be on my way...... Have a great day!
