never thought I'd post in here..

I'm a total skeptic about sixth sense type stuff, but lately, I have been predicting the future. A lot. Very specifically.
I can't think of many examples but a big one was when my wallet got stolen. That morning I'd said to myself several times, "Take the cash out of your wallet coz it's going to get stolen today."
I always carry a lot of cash, so it wasn't an unusual day. There have been a few big things like that, just can;t remember now.
And then other weird little things, like having a phrase in my head. The other day I suddenly stopped and kept thinking "it is what it is." And I wondered why that phrase kept popping into my head, and I never use that phrase. 5 minutes later, I hopped on to the computer and it was in an article I was reading.
Anyway maybe these are all coincidences, but I really have a feeling about it. I think there's something going on with me.
To those with special gifts, how did yours start, or how did you discover it?
What should I do to encourage this new skill?

I play deal or no deal by watching it on the telly and trying to predict what's in each case or what number they'll pick next!

    I'm not very good...

practice predicting the colours of your clinkers or use it to find carparks!

Only joking..best thing you can do is keep listening to it and respecting it. Looking after your emotional health, maintaining healthy relationship boundaries, and looking after your body can help with staying "clear" to hear the whispers more readily when it matters.

Mine started like yours...starting asking questions about it, answers started popping up when I needed them.

DP and I do that all the time.

No idea myself hun, i have had dreams that people were pregnant and they were but thats as far as it's extended for me really aside form 'seeing/smelling' things in my house.
I'd suggest anything that 'stands out' to you, write it down, keep it safe and then look back on it.

FFS. I just lost a whole post. May be who i was going to write about next didn't want me to. Spooky.
    In short.
I see people passed on in my dreams. This all started when i was about 13-14 when a friend commited suicide. He came to me in my dream. I even saw him hovering above me, with my eyes open. He had bright orange hair, so it was hard not to assume that it was him.
My friend died of an overdose when i was about 19-20. Til about mid last year, i saw him in my dreams every 2-3 months without fail. Finally, i took notice of it and saw a medium. He came through and had messages for me to pass onto his mother, which i did. Haven't seen him in my dreams since. I can sense him around me and in the house when i am going through a bad patch. The rangehood light used to blow without fail every fortnight when i turned it on ( before i saw the medium) and now it doesn't blow.
I also get premonitions in dreams. I have to keep it to myself otherwise it doesn't come true. I dreamt that my SIL had packed her bags for overseas (last week) in a mad rush and a few days later when i called, she had gone. There was no inkling that she was going to go at all. I spook myself out.
I feel cold air in my nose and face, so called that i can smell the cold air and freezes my nostrils. I went to a spiritual meditation once and my whole left arm was paralysed (Rouge was there too) afterwards. Apparently, i can't control my energy as yet.
I can sense someone (from BB) who has passed with me at times. She is making me notice her and i am noticing her. I awoke to hearing her childs name repeated to me over and over the other morning. Other things have happened too, but i won't write what they are. I've acknowledged her. I've told her i will listen.
I spook myself out ALL the time!

At times I have a very strong 'instinct'.. I just know the answer to things. I find that when I have alot going on in my life, or if I'm stressed out my instinct disappears a bit.
Classic examples for me are guessing pregnancies, genders of babies, answers or numbers on quiz shows, what people are going to say next, what song will come on the radio next, guessing the total of my shopping at the supermarket... Lots of other stuff, i just cant think right now! I feel like I can read my daughter's mind sometimes.. But I don't know if that is just because I'm her mother!

in my dreams, i see whom i will see in the next few days or hear from.
Once, i told a lady that she would be offered a reduncacy package from work as i had dreamt it. I told her it won't come true because i had told her. Well, 1-2 days later she was offered a package!

I always wondered whether deja vu (sp?) is a vague memory of a dream that you may have had..

    I agree with MD hun.

I have the same thing, I know when someone is going to call me and I know who it will be. I know when someone is going to knock on the door unexpectedly.
I know in the morning if I am going to lose something. Just little things here but I surprise myself sometimes. You've gotta start somewhere

Clinkers is a great one. Used to have the comp of the first person to get 3 picks right in a row would win the bag of clinkers. I often won

    Some interesting stories here.
And LOL at Clinkers, I love clinkers purely for the guessing part.

I'm curious as to why my new skill is suddenly appearing now? Or have I always had it but been a) too cynical and b) too cluttered, mentally and emotionally.

I think becoming a mother has something to do with it. How can I just hone in on this skill? I suppose I just have to let it grow on it's own. I also need to learn to actually stop and listen to it, accept that yes it is a real vision and I should respond accordingly. Previously, I've just heard it and thought little of it, only to see it pan out inevitably, when I surely could ave changed it/been prepared for it, eg my wallet! Even whilst shopping, I still kept thinking "wallet going to get stolen".
But instead of being extra vigilant, I ignored it.

i'm with MD on this one. find a healthy balance with it. dont push too hard, but let it happen. (although i have no right to say much on the matter as i have spent the last oh say 13 years trying to block all things spooky lol).

we laugh at clinkers, but yeah, basic work like that can be really helpful. it is a matter of allowing your concious brain to take the back seat while the spiritual comes to the fore. it is a trick and can be hard to recognise at first but with practice you get better.

you may also find that there are certain times when it is stronger than others (like after a recent passing, or a birth or a new house with a 'guest' that you have been into).

my 'gift' (if that's what we wanna call it ) is quite disturbing. i have mentioned in here previously that i am able to sense the aura of death. so am (forced) to see the longevity (or rather lackthereof) of a soul in this life. my last one was really strong and weirdly enough has opened me up to my other more difficult 'talents'. but TBH i have decided that 2011 is the year i stop hiding and work on it again (albeit with a more healthy attitude: life balance and all that jazz).

my latest cool talent that has started to come up again is premonition! YAY!! the best one so far happened a couple of weeks ago in the city. i was waiting with baby marta at the traffic lights to cross the road (we were walking, her in the pram). so as i was standing there waiting for the 'green man' to come on i had a clear premonition of a green car running the red. in the space of like, half a second, i had that vision, had the thought, oh i had better stay on the kerb a bit and wait for the car to pass). ANYWAY, being me, i laughed at my 'paranoia'. green man came up i took a step and then like in slow motion i stopped, pulled the pram in close to me and turned to look up as the green car came towards us. the woman who was walking beside me saw me stop and stayed with me (thankfully!), the car sped its way through without even a second glance thankfully missing all of us then coming to a screeching halt as the driver realised what he had done (poor guy, he must of been freaked out). the lady beside me looked me square in the eyes and said: 'wow, good on you for stopping' and gave a nervous laugh (if we had not of stopped we would of been pummelled). it was weird though, because as it was happening it was like part of me was not 'there'. so when the lady spoke to me, part of me was so confused as to why she was talking to me. and it took me quite a few seconds to realise that i still needed to respond. all i could muster was a brief smile and a shrug of the shoulders. she looked at me like i musta been on drugs

anyway, enough of my ramble; i reckon if you are feeling it come through and you like it, then go for it!

I've always just called this stuff instinct. I find certain people I am naturally more connected to make my 'instinct' stronger. I was waiting for my sister to get home from work before I called her a few days ago. Without focussing too much o it I randomly gave her a try just after 6pm. She said "freaky, I just walked in." By the way I have no idea when she finishes work, its always different.

I often call my mum when she happens to be either walking past the phone, or better yet, holding it for whatever reason. Lol she hates it. With both of my pregnancies I had dreams about them before I had a positive test. The first time was the spookiest because we werent ttc, and I wasn't late yet.

If I try to make a prediction though, I can't. I find it worka best if I just follow my instincts in everyday life and I'm usually led in the right direction. That's all I can think of for now just listen for those little whispers.

I am only fairly new to BB so many of you wont know me. I started hearing snippets of sentences as a child, almost like I was eaves dropping on a conversation but it was always people that were no where in close vicinity so I knew I wasn’t imagining it. I used to ask my sibling “did you hear that” and always go a resounding no from them.
For years I didn’t make much of it. My grandfather passed away when I was 5 and I could feel his presence around me from time to time, then at about 14/15 muching around with my friends he came though to me for the first time. I was so completely freaked out lol.

I still felt people around me and heard those snippets and still do, but about 5 years ago I met a friend who helped me “hear” more. I can feel peoples emotions which can definitely have it’s drawbacks let me tell you. My strongest sense(not sure thats the right word) is in empathy I spent alot of time learning about readings etc and I used to do readings in a chat forum (not professionally) and even though I had learnt how to understand the information given to me, it still surprised me everytime the person understood what I was saying lol

Most of the time these days I don’t “listen” but I do every now and then get a wake up and get a message, and sometimes they have to try a few times before I listen lol. Anyway, thats how I came to be where I am now.
