    Just bought a bread maker........

    Now wat?

is it better to buy bread mix or better to just get all the ingredients taste wise and price wise?

I just used the receipe that come from the book that came with it. It might take a few goes to get it right but once you do it is so much better. Just be very accurate with all the ingredients.

ooo I will be watching this thread! I am thinking of buying a bread maker but not sure if I will actually use it or it will just turn in to one of those things that you use a few times and thats it.
But I love the idea of waking up to the smell of a freshly made loaf of bread mmmmmm!!

I've done both, and it depends what you want. Bread mixes is generally water, the mix and yeast, otherwise it is multiple ingredients ( but most last for ages so work out quite cheap really). I make all my own bread (except for rolls), so about 2 - 3 loaves a week and I love it. I buy my flour and mixes in the 5kg bags and they last for 2 - 3 weeks.
A basic white loaf in my machines book is just water, oil, sugar, salt, flour, bread improver (not compulsory), milk powder, and yeast. So most ingredients would already be in your pantry.
And yes Ngala, the smell is divine!

Whoo hoo to the the bread maker!!!

I absolutely love ours! I do both, I buy the 10kg or 20kg bag of pre mix that you get in the supermarket, it last forever, and is pretty cheap considering how much bread it makes.
I also have the ingredients in the cupboard to make the different types of breads too.
I make everything in it, from loafs, to rolls, turkish bread, the girls fav is banana bread which is devine. This year I am going to attempt hot cross buns too.. It should be interesting to see how they turn out!

And you can make the best pizza dough to. I have a great recipe book for breadmakers but it is packed away at the moment. Basically you can make any yeasted dough in it and then just take it out and shape it and bake it if neccessary

I love my bread maker! I bought it so that I could make spelt bread as I am sensitive to wheat. The bread maker only comes with wheat flour recipes so googled it and found a few which turn out really well.
