    Sippy cups

My DD is 7 months and I want to get her to start using a "sippy" cup but the top is different to a bottle and she just doesn't want to give it a go. My DS took to it like a duck to water at 4 months but DD just gets frustrated with it and will scream until she gets her bottle. Any ideas? I've tried at different times of the day, different things in it (juice, water, formula) and even leaving it with her on her own to try it but nothing works.

Hi KalinaJane - I just got my DD a Nuby spill-proof sippy cup that has a silicone teat/top on it - its shaped a bit more like a bottle teat rather than a sippy cup teat. It has a one-way valve so bub has to suck to get liquid out of it. Anyway she is doing quite well with it. Maybe that could be one to try?
What type of sippy cup are you currently using? I also have some tommee tippee ones but I had to take the valve out, so that the liquid free-flows, because DD couldn't work out how to suck the liquid through that one. I'm hoping after using the nuby one she will work out how to use other ones too.

    Good luck!

I'm using a tommee tippee one as well and a Heinz one. I have no idea how to take the valve out but I might try the nubby one when I go shopping next. The 2 that I have seem to be hard, like they have plastic underneath the teat part so I think that might be the problem. A silicone teat might be easier for her for the time being. Thanks

I second the nuby brand one! Woolies sell them! DD really took to the softer topped one. She found tommee tippee ones and heinz hard to get enough liquid out to satisfy her. I had a go and I was shocked to how hard they seemed to be to get the contents out. Since the sippy cups I have bought all of their products. Bonus is they are all BPA free and dishwasher (top rack) safe!

The 'Take and Toss' ones were easiest for my LO to work out how to suck. cheaper too.

Actually I think the other ones are heinz not tt - you can remove the valve under the lid by pulling it out. Goodluck with the nuby one!
