I remember freaky early stuff too - later confirmed by my mother. I had the stork mark thing going on as well...
thinking about the lovely post that Possum's started on when a baby soul enters the body...found here....
i started to think about memory (ie when do we start to remember things, what do we remember etc).
soooo what are yours?
i remember freaky early stuff, but would love to hear other ppl go first lol!
c'mon, what are your earliest memories...give it a crack![]()

I remember my mum and dads wedding, I recall being annoyed and confused at being passed around to so many different people.
Mum always laughs at me as I was only 1 year old (just) she doesnt think I actually remember it, but its clear as day, more the feelings than the actual pictures, also the smell of my auntys perfume "white linen" always brings it back...
I remember just after we arrived in Australia (we moved from England) we went to the beach, and I lost a My Little Pony. I remember being really upset about it and my dad telling me when I grew up the Pony would know were I live and come and find me and be my own real life PonyI would have been 2yrs old
Very silly memory, but very vivid none the less!!
btw....im still waiting for the Pony.....
I swear I remember lying in a pram while Mum was pushing and she would constantly push back and readjust the sun shade. I also believe she was walking down the street behind the street we lived on.
yeah for me it's funny because i can recount entire conversations that mum had with her mates while i was seemingly gooing and gaaing all over the place (but evidently totally eavesdropping lol). it really makes me think twice (or thrice lol) about what i say and how i act in front of my girls.
in a sense i have to remind myself that just because a baby cannot 'communicate' in words with me doesnt for a moment mean that they cant communicate or understand ITMS.
I remember a flood with the weir having water across it and red mud, slipping and sliding holding my Dad and my godfathers hands. Mum was pregnant with my sister so I was about 2.
my earliest memory is still kinda freak early so i'll start with a later one...
i remember lying in my bonds wondersuit (yellow) and i was sharing the cot with my mate shane (yep, well before SIDS awareness) (oh and he was wearing a white bonds) and we were meant to be going to sleep and i was totally not impressed. he looked up at me and began to fall asleep and i was felt totally betrayed by him as i was hoping for a cacophony of sound to bring the house down (ie bring the women back lol).
ANYWAY he fell asleep. i remember lying prone on my back and banging my arms then turning my head to my side and getting cross. yelled out. ALOT. my mum musta been a Controlled Crying kinda woman lol. the Shane's mum walks in and leans over the cot and yells out to my mum: "yep, told ya, it's yours!" (referring to me being the yeller) and i remember thinking 'of course it is!'. much to my horror she thought it was funny and just laughed and walked back out....not happy jan. then the memory stops. no doubt i finally passed out lol.
Wow cassius, that sounds early. It's an interesting insight from a babies perspective. I always get irritated when people treat babies as lesser human beings just because they cant talk.
My earliest is dad holding me over a pond looking at the ducks. One of my first words was 'quack'. I think i was about 18 months.
I remember being 2 or 3 years old, I was running (nude) in the back garden in the bore water sprinklers (obviously healthy coz I'm still OK...or am I, LOL).
oh i used to love running around nudie rudie with the sprinklers!!
I remember being in my pram with my big sister sitting on the front bar. I remember playing at the local kinder that was behind our house. I was about 2 years old at these times. I also remember being scratched by our cat and I think I was around 2 then as well, I was laying in front of the heater and he jumped on me and ripped my back to shreds!
My earliest memory is going to the hospital with Dad to see Mum and my new baby brother. I was 2yrs, 20 days old at the time. I remember it clear as day. I also remember Dad taking me for an ice cream cone after we left the hospital. I also remember later that year seeing my Great Grandmother sitting in her chair so I would have been about 2.5yo.
it seems the age of 2 is an interesting time! how cool is that?!
when i was two i remember seeing grey horses and thinking they were sheep (white like sheep lol) so i told mummy that i wanted sheep like that (and so the pony obsession began).
that was the day that i also met my best friend. she is the same age as me and when i walked in she was on the floor having a full blown tantrum i remember because her Mum was totally chilled and my friend had this gorgeous fairy dress on. then she got up, like nothing had happened and took my hand and showed me her bedroom...it was FULL of the best toys. she gave me a dolly to play with: i was blown away
also when i was two i remember being with my Oma at her friends house and they were looking at potplants. it was boring! i was wearing my red overalls. anyway, i got bored and walked up the driveway (slight incline) and then walked to the neighbours house (we had been there before so i "knew" it was OK...soooo wasnt lol). walked down the driveway and saw the pool...
i remember sitting at the edge of the water in a crouch and feeling this awesome desire to go in. so i sat on my bum and popped my feet in the water. being a cautious child however, instead of just sliding in i decided to hold onto the edge of the pool (rounded bricks with a slight 'lip' at the edge...good for gripping) as the water was a bit cold. anway, it didnt take long for me to realise that it was not fun. i was stuck and wanted to get out. but i couldnt cry out much because my grip was slipping. the clothes i remember got really cold and wet and i felt heavy. i remember the colour of the water reflecting and the feel of the vinyl edge of the pool touching my nose where i was hanging and the smell of the water. it felt like ages that i had been there.
aparently my Oma didnt know where i was for roughly 10 minutes. they were panicking and then by some miracle came running down the drive and saw these little fingers holding on tight to the edge. i cannot even begin to imagine how she felt at that moment....
I remember going to my Dads parents and they had lollies on there fridge which tasted funny. Nana was there, so I was under 2.5 (she passed when I was 3)
Its weird![]()
OMG! That sounds like a really close call!
My earliest memory is of my little sister coming home from hospital. I just remember the love I felt and the awe and wonder at this little person... I was 15 months.
I also remember getting lost when I was around 2. I was looking up at a man at a newsagent - he looked so high up with all these magazines around him and I was staring at him for a while. Then when I looked around, I couldn't see my Mum. I went running out of the shop to look for her (she was still in the shop in an aisle!) and a lady with a pram found me and took me to the police station where the poor Officers calmed down this hysterical little girl with a strawberry milkshake! Then my Mum came walking in and collected me. My Mum must have been beside herself with worry - but I don't remember being aware of her feelings (but I remember freaking out the poor copper!) - I've always tried to remember this as I obviously wasn't capable of registering my mother's fear and worry..
2 seems like a pretty common age!
Mine is around 2 years old, we lived in a court and I was the youngest in the neighbourhood for the time being. All the older kids were rollerskating. I had burgundy patent leather tbar shoes on, I remember as clear as anything looking down at them and thinking 'I want to be doing what the others are doing'. So I tried to rollerskate. Obviously it didn't work. I don't remember much except for the expectation that I would glide. I know I didn't.
I also remember when my brother was born. I remember the night, but not the actual event. My dad cooked me fish fingers in the microwave. I remember wishing I'd gone to my aunty's because I knew they were having chicken. My friend (invisible to all but me) ate my fish fingers for me.
I love this thread.
That is adorable. What a dad!
Great first word, quite a difficult one for a little tyke too.
I remember our first family holiday, but only snippets - a caravan on the beach. It had a bead curtin across the front door. There was a donkey in the lot next to us that used to bray loudly during my afternoon nap. That's it! Apparently I was 18 months old.
Next one after that was about 3, my first boyfriend at creche. His name was Andrew and we bonded over a bear![]()
