Thaw cycles...Can anyone help with some information??
Hi,
I have been doing an antagonist cycle at MIVF. I had my OPU yesterday (sadly, only two eggs retrieved ) but, due to an abundance of mucus in my uterine cavity, I had to have a D&C so, if the eggs fertilise, transfer cant go ahead because I now have no lining
My clinic has said I will have to do a thaw cycle next month (or whenever I next get my period). I dont know much about these cycles. Can anyone tell me how they work, in particular - medication regime, timing, what happens if you grow another follie naturally in the thaw cycle, etc, etc....
Hi,
Drug protocol depends on your individual circumstances and your FS. Sometimes they may be happy for you to have a FET without drugs initially apart from progesterone. Usually they will do scans to determine lining thickness etc and sometimes depending on clinic protocol and your FS preference they may do bloods to determine timing of transfer.the rate of success from FET as opposed to fresh transfer is just as good and can be sometimes better. I hope I helped with some questions. Good luck with your FET! x
As Mad Scientist has said, it does depend alot on your FS. All (except 1) my thaw cycles/ frozen transfers which was 5ish were just monitored via bloods. Once I O'ed they transferred the blastocyst 5 days later. Just depends on your clinic. If you O 'naturally' then you have a chance of conceiving naturally as well as having a blastocyst implant....so I guess there is a chance of twins there but imo it would be slim.
N2L I found it much easier than a stim cycle. (I did a natural thaw cycle, not an HRT cycle).
Once I got AF, the clinic got me to use OPK's when I was fertile. When I got a positive I went in for a blood test, it was good ( meaning I had my LH surge and was about to ovulate). Then I was booked in 5 days later to have the transfer, which is just going in with a full bladder, no sedation required, it takes only a few minutes and I find them painless. Then home on the couch and on with your TWW! Theres ( apparently) a 90% chance the embryo will thaw out properly, if it doesn't they thaw the next one until one survives. I only had one so luckily it was fine!
Different clinics do them differently as other people have said.
You will get a follie growing, but like Lilydust said, the chance of twins is slim ( if only it was that easy lol)
The only thing i will say is make sure they give you progesterone supplemements, my clinic didn't and I've had a problem with low progesterone.
