    do you wear one?

do you wear an apron when cooking?

i haven't worn one since i was about 10 or 11 but i was thinking about it today - i do have a tendency to cover myself in whatever i'm making - esp if i'm baking.

my gran always wore one & my mum did but i haven't seen her wear one for years.

it got me wondering - do other people wear aprons?

I have two lovely aprons, but never wear them! i think I would if I was already dressed for a dinner party and was just doing some last-minute things in the kitchen before guests arrive. In all honesty, the rest of the time I seem to be covered in drool and crusty food from DS anyway, so don't really feel the need to protect my clothes!

I have an Australian flag one that we bought on Aussie day to use as capes (LOL) but I have never used an apron in the kitchen, I totally forgot about them! LOL

I need a plastic one for washing the dishes cause I always get saturated!

Yep all the time. Especially when cooking for a dinner party or cake decorating. I need to get some pretty ones I have a Martha Stewart one that my gf got me from the US and a cute purple one.

Don't even own one, my mum always wore one when cooking and I did have one when I was little just so I could be like mum.

I have a couple, but rarely wear them. Tends to be when I am entertaining, as that way I can be dressed nicely or when I am doing something major like preserving.

Yes, the kids and I wear an apron but I want to learn how to sew some cute ones. I used to wear an apron when I ate spaghetti (before kids and on the couch LOL).

I have 2 - a thick plastic one for when i'm washing up (i manage to get water everywhere) and a nice pretty one for cooking. Makes me feel more professional somehow when i'm 'in uniform'!! My daughter got one today as a birthday present together with mini-oven gloves.....but has been pretending she's a surgeon when wearing it all!

Yes, cause I'm often in and out of the kitchen when cooking, so I know that the apron is clean. Specially if I've been in the garden picking fresh hearbs / veg etc.

<vent> I do go and complain to companies when I see their staff wearing their aprons to the ladies' room, when I see them coming out of the cubicles still wearing them. I think that is so wrong. </vent>

Yes & I have just started wearing them more & more. I am a messy cook so I get food & food splatters everywhere! They have really saved my clothes. I think Bath (?) started a thread a while ago about aprons....

I should cos I often wear everything else! My girls have 2 each so perhaps time to get sorted! Hmm......sadly I think I need a 'housecoat' as I seem to be covered in muck that is not mine, lol! Good reminder Sloane as I have meant to have a look when out! xx
