    Gaining weight while pg

I had my first hospital app yesterday and they asked my weight and checked my bmi. This is my third pg and even with my twins I was never weighed or had my bmi calculated??? I know I am a little over weight I still had 7kg to lose after ds3 but what is the purpose of checking weight? M/w said I was still within a health range but to stay away from those doughnuts! I left feeling like crap!

I wasn't weighed for my first back in 2005 but did get weighed in 2009 for my second by my GP and at the hospital.

I think that midwife was a little rude by saying lay off the donuts though.

I have been weighed all 3 pregnancies. I don't mind so much, I just find it interesting to keep track of it.
The reasoning is that they want to make sure you don't put on huge amounts of weight as this can increase lots of risk factors during later pregnancy. My ob also said he likes to watch for any really big jumps in weight toward the end as it can be a sign of PE. I have put on plenty of weight each time and he has never been concerned, except with DS1 when it jumped up 3kg in a week. It coincided with a rise in BP, so I was put on close monitoring.

I don't know about donuts being compulsory, but I am pretty sure chocolate and ice cream are.
