    Kids chiro

I'd love to hear about your experiences with taking your little one to a chiro. What age did you take them and why?

I've just started taking almost 18mo DD last week for a number of health issues she's been having recently, one being reflux. when they assessed her, she was only good on 3 of the 18 checkpoints, which shocked me! While I am quite positive about doing this DH is a bit more skeptical, and I'd love to have some positive stories to tell him

My son's plagiocephaly was moderate to severe as assessed by the RCH. After eight weeks of weekly chiro, he was back in the normal range and didn't need a helmet. Amazing stuff.

But you need to pick a specialist paediatric chiro.

Eta he was ten weeks old or thereabouts when he started chiro.

That's fantastic Divvy! It does seem quite amazing from everything I've heard/read so far.

We are going to a specialist paediatric chiro - there's a chiro over the road from my house who deals with kids, but I've opted to go to one further away because i know they have a fantastic reputation with children. They're adjusting me at the same time because i fell down the stairs a couple of weeks ago and am still sore... so it's interesting to see how it's making me feel at the same time. I feel better even after just 2 sessions.

All my 3 have gone for chiro sessions after they were born. I think dd2 was the earliest at 6 weeks though?

All of my boys have been to chiro after birth. Eldest not until he was 2, but with my second child he went at around 4 months, he had a horrible horrible cough which the Dr's just ignored. Went to Chiro, he had issues with his neck and shoulder relating to birth and they also advised me to use only lactose free dairy and his cough dissapeared.
My youngest son went at around 6 weeks. He has probably had the least amount of adjustements but I don't know if that's because he went earlier so they caught onto things quicker.

We tend to go every 6 months unless I feel they need to be seen earlier. Where I am in Vic we use a group called Kiro Kids, they are fantastic and I really like the method that they use.

I saw my Chiro all through my pg, and took DD in when she was about 4 weeks I think. She was breech and a c-section so we wanted to get her checked out. Chiro noted that her palate wasn't symmetrical and this has been fixed now. Also her neck and back were out a bit. I go monthly and she gets checked every 2 months now (was weekly for the first few appts).

It is recommended that if you do intend seeing a chiro post birth, you do it within their first week of life. This can assist in breastfeeding etc. should they have any neck, spinal mis-alignments that often cause attachment issues. DS saw a chiro soon after birth and I will be getting our next bub in ASAP as well. It is particularly beneficial after a c-section, which can be very rough on bubs neck and shoulders.

Aside from the initial consultation, we have had ongoing chiro care for DS (DH is also a skeptic, but fortunately he just humours me and is happy to pay for DS to continue seeing our chiro). I find DS sleeps so much better after a visit. We are also working on his walking (he has quite a wide gait in his walk). Further to this, our chiro has helped us with his fussiness with food by making several suggestions and diet changes - all of which have really worked

I see my chiropractor every 2-3 weeks generally due to scoliosis (sp?) DS has it too unfortunately & goes every 6wks for a checkup & generally needs adjusting. But he also needs adjusting if he's been sick or teething.
DS first went when he was 4weeks old and was so out his head was pretty much on sideways from my hips being uneven when he in utero

I started taking DS at a few weeks old. He was misaligned and had attachment issues, only on one side, 2 adjustments and saw almost 100% improvement, not many after, and all good! I go as well for general health and well being

I get adjusted every week and dh tries to but it ends up being more like fortnightly or even every 3 weeks. What it has done for us is amazing so there was no doubt that DS was going to be adjusted as soon as possible. I can't remember how old he was for his 1st one but I know it's safe to do so right from birth. DS might have been around the 6 week mark? The only reason I hadn't taken him earlier was because it was really only to get him checked. If the birth had been traumatic or he was having some sort of problems ie breastfeeding, reflux, colic etc I would have taken him sooner. It's important to realise that even a good birth though will still cause subluxation so every baby will benefit from seeing a chiro. And I'm sure your chiro explained to you that it's not just about aligning the spine it's about making sure that all the nerves are getting through to all the cells tissues and organs of the body which is really important for optimal health and for bubs (and adults) to thrive DS has gone several times since birth and we work on about once a month. We will be taking him for many years to come.
