    Question Questions About Engaging

So as most of you would know im NOT pregnant lol but my sister is and her last midwife appointment they told her she is 4/5ths engaged, does this mean her bub is almost engaged and ready to enter this world????

Yes i have had 2 children but i never got told numbers like this i was just told 'hes starting to engage' or 'he is head down really really low' so having numbers is abit confusing to me

Plus im asking this purely because i have a 4 hour drive ahead of me to be down there for when she has her bub to meet my little niece/nephew!!!

Im SO excited as this is my first niece/nephew!!!

    TIA for your replies

the scale goes from 5/5ths which is right out to i guess 0/5ths which is right in....so 4/5th is still out and floating about, which is where im at, floating around between 5/5th and 4/5ths, unfortunatly not in and ready to go....as im 2 weeks over

Congrats on become an auntie soon too!

I believe it means that the head can still be moved from side to side but is low in the pelvis, my little man is at 3/5 and man is that uncomfortable (and it hasn't eased the heart burn yet) I feel like I have to roll my pelvis to lean forward.

How exciting for you... I hope you get to meet your niece/nephew soon (head doesn't have to be engaged to go into labour)

i actually asked at the MW appointment today casue i wasnt 100% sure after posting this she said its the degree that the head is inside the pelvic space. Baby was 3/5ths today, at 4/5ths yesterday the MW could move the head from side to side, today she couldnt.

i always thought with the first baby, you could be engaged for weeks? i know with DD, i was engaged with her for 2 weeks. that was tough! so i don't think it necessarily means bubs might come anytime soon, but i guess it depends on how far your sis is....being first bub, hopefully she doesn't go early and waits until you get down there next week before labour starts
