Question swapping day for night routine in a newborn???

Baby is now just over a week old, but has day and night mixed up!
she sleeps alot during the day, wich is good, but she spends most of the night up, and as Df pointed out lastnight, she dose ALOT more feeding during the night, of a day i sometimes either have to deal with my boobs filling up, or wake her after a solid few hours sleep just to drain them a little! but at night, she is more awake and alert, and feeds more often, Df has noticed this part as he gets up to her if she is in the cradle and i dont hear her, and attaches her when she is done, she just lyes there kicking about when she dose have a night sleep it is only short and then another change feed play, like she should do during the day!

how can i 'trick' her into swaping over to how it should be??

My DS was like this and for us it was gentle suggestion that eventually worked.
During the day I encouraged cuddles with me and visitors, but less close bottom patting, sleepy cuddles and more "let me look at you, beautiful baby" type cuddles. I didn't put him in his bed except for two day time sleeps. Other times he just slept in the room where I was. I never turned the lights off.
Night time I stayed in our dark room as much as possible and reduced all stimuli. I only changed nappies at night when necessary but did routine changes in the day with every feed.
If DD got up DH went to her etc. From memory it only took a week or two and he was sorted. Though there really is no rush with such a young baby. Their tummies and bladders etc are too small to recognise night.
    Good luck!

Moo was much the same in the early days, I think it took him a few weeks to naturally swap it around. Overnight I kept things very dim & quiet, during the day I exposed him to lots of natural light to help him get his body clock the right way around.

Day time was noisy(DS was always good here), lots of talking, nappy off, cuddles and kisses, sleeps were always curtains open, and playing. Being careful of course not to over stinulate them and then get overtired.
Its a very fine line isnt it?? DD had about a 15min window of being sleepy to being over tired not going to sleep now!!

Nighttime was complete opposite. Warm bath, quiet time, dark room with just night light on and before bed not much talking. When she woke during the night there was no talking at all and only the hall light to see what I was doing. It was all business and no pleasure

She will get it but she has to learn it first and being so little still it will take a little while.
Good luck and huge congratulations she looks adorable!
