    Favourite food swaps

Hi there just wondered if any of you had a favourite food that you have swapped for a healthier version that still satisfies your craving??

Thanks ladies - I have lost four kilos with another 4 to go. Just feeling like I have to change my diet to get past my plateau.

The BEST thing I found was ultra slim dark choc cherry bars, from memory they are about 120cals and I ended up prefering them instead of a cherry ripe I had to stop eating them though as I get bad eczema from artificial sweetener and those nasty fake sugars are really bad for you anyway.

Thanks for your reply... I will have to try one of those! I agree with those artificial sweetners being bad too.

I removed most jarred foods (is pasta sauce etc) in favor of making my own, so much nicer and you know exactly what's in it.

Maybe replace 1 snack with fruit, I needed to eat more to loose weight and keep my metabolism going.

Is it me, or are threads going a bit silly these days?

I change the way I cook things and portion sizes. So rather than fry, I grill. Instead of cooking 100g pasta, I cook 75g pasta (for example). Or I make a meal and serve up an extra portion, which goes in the freezer or DH uses the next day for his lunch. I also don't buy in biscuits, chocolate, crisps et cetera, so I'm forced to go for fruit/veg if I'm peckish. I tend not to use pre-prepared food anyway, I just cook too much.

I agree something odd going on here????

I agree with the whole portion size thing and grilling foods etc. I have currently swapped sugar in my tea for stevia, it's all natural but then again I haven't heard great things about it. I stopped buying unhealthy snacks to keep at home, because if they're here I'll eat them. I send snacks to work with hubby and he just keeps them there. Sugar is a big culprit for me and weight loss so the less sugar I have the more weight I will lose. I also swapped desserts for Oranges, sounds odd but having an orange at night seemed to help and I was still enjoying something sweet.

Carrots and Ice. I lost 20kg before my 2nd prg just by substituting them in my diet (and hardcore exercising of cours.)
    good luck xx

I have substituted sugar with Agave nectar; toast with ricotta hotcakes in the morning, wheat with spelt and millet, olive oil with coconut oil and salt with Herbamare

Go gluten and dairy free, it changed my life! I'm healthier, medication free and I believe and have found studies that show wheat is a HUGE issue to people trying to loose weight!! I was a good size 12-14 after DD2 I put on a lot of weight (for my height) 6wks after going gluten/dairy/soy free I lost 10kg and I'm 36wks pregnant and the weight is ALLL baby! I'm STILL wearing size XS!! no maternity clothes, size 12 (pants) won't even fit me, too BIG! any sugar substitute is great, we use Raw honey and raw agave or maple syrup. If I go to the shops I take a piece of fruit and a huge stick of celery with homemade raw nut butter on top. Start your day with at LEAST a liter of water as you need to 'flush' your system of toxins and waste before trying to put any more nutrients in your body. Coconut oil, avocados are great for weightloss. They're good fats! I'm a big believer in if you get back to basics with food, your weight will even out to an average your body can happily maintain. I didn't even do hard core ecxersise like I did after dd1, the weight literally fel off!
