I've been trying to put together a photobook of a recent trip we had. We normally keep a notebook where DH and I take it in turns and write what we did that day, but this time I thought I'd do a photobook and add in the day's worth of photos.
Problem is that I'm having trouble doing it. I usually use Big W, but the site has been incredibly slow and my computer heats up to the point it turns off. I tried snap fish but the text layout was only minimal. Either I'm doing something wrong there, or it's too limited for what I need.
Any suggestions on what I do? Or should I just scrapbook it?
With Snapfish you should be able to actually put a whole page of text... there's a text page/box thing just can't think exactly where... ok, just checked and it's under the little tab "layouts" on the right, there are text only options... you can also put text under photos... hope that helps. I just did my 3rd photobook with them and LOVE it! I didn't do any text though.. it was from our wedding so the pictures tell the story of the day.
I use the albumworks ones - they are awesome and you have lots of control over how much (or how little) text you want, the software is easy to download and you have a real life 'help' feature - me!!!
They have regular specials too so although they appear a little more expensive than Big W etc, if you wait for a special to order it you will get a great deal.
I am currently using the 200 page one to record my 365 project and made 2 x 6 month photo books for DS's first year. I did them as a 52 week photo diary and was able to put about 6 or so photo's per page and a 2 or so paragraph blurb as well - you have lots of control over font size etc
I'll bring them over on the weekend babe so you can have a look
I've use the snapfish and big W books in the past (for wedding/honeymoon etc) and these are heaps better, you have much more control over how you want them to look
CheezelMonster - Thanks for the tip. I had a quick look last night - looks good. Thanks
Black_Rose & Swoop - I have a feeling that both Target and Harvey Normal (and Kmart) all use the same product as Big W. I've always used that in the past, but it isn't working great at the moment. Like, it took me an hour to write out and lay out a paragraph, it froze, the computer overheated and I lost the lot But thanks for the suggestions
Ozziehoffy - Thanks for that. The most I could get on snapfish was a small paragraph, where I wanted to do an entire page. I'll go back and have a look, see what I was doing wrong.
Nay - Thanks heaps - I'd love to have a look. I'll check out albumworks today too.
Target recently changed their software, so they may be different to BigW now? Anyway, I've just had two done with Snapfish and thought the layouts were pretty good, but then I didnt' want to fuss around too much. You can definitely do a full page of text with snapfish - under the layouts tab there are 3 options for text pages - a small block, a full page block and then a full page with a heading. It still might not be quite what you want though?
I've used Snapfish as I keep getting their discount codes.
Some parts are fiddly with their multiple photo layouts, in that the photo has to be vertical or horizontal (portrait or landscape) to fit certain layouts.
My photo books are 20 pages or less though as I am putting old scanned photos into the photobooks.
Also I don't bother with text. The one I had text on with a title was ok, but a bit naff.
I've had experience also with printed card sites like Hallmark, the text has come out smaller than what I thought it should be, or even how it was on their website preview.
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that Momento has a Digital Scrapbook option, I find that has heaps of room for text plus lots of embellishments etc to make it a bit more interesting!
