So I am currently charting which is all fine buy I am currently on day 63 of my cycle with no sign of af. According to my chart my od was d29. I have done multiple hpt but no htp! Since coming off the pill last august the shortest cycle I've had has been 40 days. My doctor had a blood test to check hormones for pcos but all ame back fine.
Anyone else suffered from such long cycles?? Any advice for ttc?? At the moment I feel like it's going to be near impossible tc!
Hi Little_O, I had very irregular cycles when I went off the pill. I suspected that i had pcos too, but my tests came back ok. I'm not sure how you feel about fertility drugs, but my FS prescribed me clomid. I haven't fallen PG yet, but my cycles are now 35 days.
Thanks Tasha. I'm a bit scared to try prescription drugs yet, but did your fs feel that you wouldn't get regular again by yourself? I would like try to try natural first but not really sure where to start. I've seen something called maca which is meant to help...
I like you had crazy irregular cyles, and my longest was 10 months! I sought the help of a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practioner/Naturopath with acupuncture, and it truly worked wonders for me. Within 2 months I had my first period, and on my second cycle after that, I fell pregnant. I cannot speak highly enough for TCM and if you are open to alternative medicines, I would definitely recommend you try it.
I was off the pill for 1.5 years and my cycles went from 100+ days to about 70 days and then down to about 45 days before i went on clomid. I am 29 this year so we didn't really want to waste any more time. Having maybe 3 "chances" each YEAR was just ridiculous! You may have a problem with ovulation or your body may just take a little extra time to adjust back to regular cycles. For me I had a long history of very irregular cycles so I knew my body wouldn't just change back when I went off the pill. In order to get professional help they like you to be trying for at least 12 months, so maybe after 6 months of ttc call around and book in an appointment with a FS (you will probably have to wait for about 3 months anyway) There is also heaps of natural therapies in one of these threads somewhere. Haven't tried myself, but they sound good.
Id recommend going to see someone. My last cycle before clomid was 104 days. On clomid it was 32 days. I kind of saw it as something I needed to do with I wanted to be a mum.
Thanks manhattan! So did the Chinese medicine consist of anything else other than acupuncture? I'm scared of the needles but I think I'd rather try that before prescription medicine. Did they put you on any other supplements?
Oh yeah, plenty of supplements! I was poppong pills and drinking herbs practically all day, lol! The herbs you take are dependent on your specific needs. I absoultely despise needles, but I actually really enjoy the acupuncture, and hardly feel the needles at all.
I have taken your advice and I went yesterday for acupuncture and Chinese remedies. Here's hoping it helps a bit. How long did it take for you to notice a change?
Wow, good for you, hope it works its magic for you very soon! As I mentioned above, I hadn't had a period for 10 months when i sought help, and wihin 2 months of taking the herbs and having acupuncture, I got my period, and boy, was it a doozy! Then my second cycle after that one, I fell pregnant. Not sure if you have looked into it or not, but another thing I was doing was charting my temperature and cervical mucous to help determine when I ovulated. Many girls on BB do it, and use an online program called fertility friend. Its great, and really helps you get to know your body.
When i was ttc my daughter they were usually 7-9 weeks. I had a blood test for pcos which came back positive but u/s was fine so they decided i didnt have it.
Gp wanted to refer me to fs for chlomid but i wanted to try other options first. I tried chinese medicine and acupuncture and i thank it for conceiving my daughter. I started it right before the cycle i got my bfp. It was still long (was first one with treatment though so maybe it would have improved) but my temp chart finally looked more normal and i was having problems with lack of cm and that was finally ok too! so i highly recommend trying this route. good luck!!
It depends on the practitioner and if you have extras health insurance. I think it was about $60 a session when i went for the acupuncture and chinese medicine consultation with the medicine on top of that (which wasnt much). I'd get just over $20 back on extras. I think i went about fortnightly.
There are cheaper options, like I know unis who have courses in chinese medicine courses do it for more like $20 a session
With the acupuncture I'm getting at the moment, the session costs about $50-60 but they are a preferred choice for my healthfund so I only have to pay $20. The supplements he gave me last time were about $20 too. If you have extras cover I would look into their preferred partners and you'll be covered for a lot more if you have cover.
On another question for all you ladies that have tried acupuncture, did they ever use the electrical currents on you too?? X
I didnt realise electrical currents were even an option! How do you find that?
I didnt have extras health cover for it when i started going but it was worth signing up for it even with the waiting period, as i soon saved enough to make it worthwhile
I think it's called electro-acupuncture and I found it perchance as the acupuncturist just automatically did it. From my experience they hook up current to some of the needles and this results in extra stimulation. They also used electrical pads with a moist cloth and applied this to my abdomen and lower back and neck area, which was like lots of little needles stimulating the area, but without feeling like the other needles..if that makes sense. Apart from looking like a science experiment (as dh thought) it has been quite good! Hopefully see results soon! X
