Red face "Your song" for your kids?

    Hi!

I know a lot of people have what they call "their song" for themselves, with a partner, or even friends.

My song for DS is smashmouth - I'm A Believer, because as a baby he could never take his eyes off shrek and it sums up how I feel about him too

I'd love to know what songs you have for your kids and why? (if there is a reason!)

"Two little boys" by Rolf Harris. I heard that song and I want my two boys to feel that way about each other when they are older. Also my DH is in Defence so it just adds a touch of poignancy to it.

I found out from my DH's dad about a year ago that this was the song DH's mum used to sing to him and his brother when they were small. Explains why he always gets tears in his eyes when he hears it as she passed away about 20 years ago.

DD's song is Shine, by Shannon . It was the first song on the radio when she was born and fit so well with how we felt for her. Tears me up even now.
DS' is Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. There was a lot going on around then and it helped me keep perspective and to love the little things

DS - he always loved anything by ministry or rammstein - and still does. he's my little metal head.. So any of that reminds me of him!

Dd1- I used to sing peggy sue by buddy holly to her as a baby. I changed the lyrics though to say "kelti coo, kelti coo, you're my love so sweet and true etc etc"

Dd2 - we sing pearl jam - even flow. But of course we change the lyrics to be "Eden glows... Fills our world with butterflies.."

    Dd3 - nothing yet lol

I always sing 'Shameless' by Garth Brooks to my daughters. It just sums up how I feel about them and how much I love them.

I have a few definite songs for DD, but two main ones - Sweet Child of Mine by Guns'n'Roses and Elvis' Can't help Falling in Love. Both of which I used to sing to her as I'd sit feeding her, usually somewhere warm and sunny

I love Amazing by Janelle. It reminds me of DD's emotional and hard pregnancy and her time in the NICU getting better. And how gorgeous and strong she is.

DD1 has 2 songs.. She entered this world to Ben Harper's 'morning yearning'. We had Ben Harper on when I was in labour and she literally arrived during this song. Beautiful! Her other song is one by Michael Franti, 'hey world [remote control version]. She absolutely loves the Franti, and we would put this song on when she became mobile and would steal the remote controls to everything. she would put the remotes down and would dance!

DD2 is another Ben Harper girl. I would always play his music when I was pregnant with her and would dance with DD1. But she loves sevendust, tool, a perfect circle and other random rock and metal music!

DD1 is our guitar chick and DD2 loves the drums... Im hoping our next one (if we are ever blessed with another) will like to sing or play bass guitar! hehe

DD's song is Memories and Dust by Josh Pike. It was the only thing that she would settle to in the car.

For those who know me it would shock them to know that I've fallen in love with Katy Perry's Firework song, and it always make me well up because I think of DD. So I guess it's her song. What I wish for her in the future, plus the fact that we call her out little firecracker

There is a song called "Fussy" by End of fashion, and in it has the lyrics "I get so fussy when I'm on my own" and also also the line "You and, your little team of winners" It was out when I was pregnant with the twins and although I don't really know what the song is about I like it and those lines always remind me of the twins.. We called them our team of winners

Then of course 'Baby Mine' by Bette Midler, which I always sang to them in NICU and 'Say a little Prayer' both of which we played at their funeral along with Tears in heaven by Eric Clapton..

I love music, it is such an expression of every emotion..
