My lovely husband just made me our first loaf of bread in our new bread maker. It was from a premix called "the real bread mix" and compared to all the other gluten free breads I have eaten in the last 3 months (since my coeliac diagnosis) it was awesome! we used manual settings from recommendations I found on the net but it still seemed a bit doughy??? I'm not sure if I should cook at a higher temp or for longer? We cooked it for 70 minutes at 147 degrees. I know gf bread is a bit doughy anyway...any advice???
That's really awesome! I don't know what you could do about the doughiness, but I wondered what breadmaker you used. I am yet to buy one and thought that I would have to use one with a specific GF setting, but it sounds like yours doesn't have that.
Thanks BB, it's does have gf settings (auto) for it's recipes (in the booklet) but I needed to use manual settings for the bread mix iykwim. It seems to have improved on cooling completely. Probably still not sandwich grade but that is the impossible dream I think. It would be nice for dipping in soup etc and doesn't need to be toasted which makes a nice change! Oh, I have the Breville ikon my lovely mum bought it for me!
Oooh great!! I found that making GF bread in the breadmaker made it heaps heaps heaps better but it doesn't last long because it is so fresh. I don't have any suggestions about doughiness other than to add a little extra rice flour.......
Hi, sorry I don't have any advice about making bread, but if you ever want a pre made loaf of bread try Schar.
I was really struggling with bread since being diagnosed about a year ago. It's pricey but oh so worth it! They make all sorts of breads, they have pre mixes, pizza bases, they even have kit kats!
