tips for getting todler from cot to big bed

so ive finally(after my last post)decided i will take the plunge and get DD in a big bed,its all ready to go,im just not sure which is the best way,ive heard mixed so im not sure if i should just take the cot out and be done with it and get her in the big bed and thats it or someone else said to just leave the cot in there and encourage her to sleep in the big bed for day sleeps, and ccot for night sleeps, problem is she then knows as we did try it and she just wont sleep unless she back in cot so im wondering if its best to just take the cot out and say its gone and go from there any advice?

You've probably started the transition by now, but here's what worked for us. We got a quilt set with his favourite character on it to get him excited about his big bed. We talked about going into the big bed etc in advance. We started with the day sleep idea, leaving the cot in his room for night sleeps. When it came to nighttime he refused to go back into the cot. DS was over 2 so he was probably overdue to move to a bed which made the transition quick and easy.

We just made the change, bed in, cot out! Made a big deal about "big boy bed" and he went really well. He has always been a pretty good sleeper though so that probably helped.

We co slept most of the time, so a bit different..... But the transition went so smoothly for us.

We let DD help us set up her new bed, and made a big deal about her pillows and soft toys she can have with her.

We also let her get in and out as much as she liked so we weren't forcing her into the bed if that makes sense?
