I'm nearly at 31 weeks and yesterday had a 4D scan and they told me I'm having a girl! Very exciting! The lady said she was sure it was a girl, do you think it would be very accurate at this stage? I have heard of a few mistakes recently! Thanks for any advice
at that stage I would think it would be pretty accurate. I had a 4d scan done at around 18 weeks (I think!) to find out DD sex, the lady said they were looking for 3 lines to determin if it was a girl, since if it was a boy you would certainly notice boy bits.
I had two gender scans done at 4D clinic one at 20 wks and one at 36 weeks and they said that it is more clear in 2D to find the gender.
Both of those scans said girl for me though and they were right.
It was the guy at the ultrasound place that got it wrong and said boy. That was done at 35 weeks.

Any ultrasound machine that is capable of 3/4D imaging is based on 2D scanning. So they would generally use both, and give you images in 3D, because that's what parents want.
At 31 weeks it should be pretty clear, but it all really comes down to the skills of the sonographer. It's still possible to make a mistake, but pretty unlikely at 31 weeks, everything is well formed by then.
With this one at 20 weeks she said girl but wasnt 100./. and then 3d scan because i wanted to hide it from the parents she said she couldnt get a real good look but girl...so i am hoping she is right..
I think it defiantly comes down to the sonographer but at 3d i think it should be fairly clear at that stage
