Before labour begun was your baby...

Leading up to labour starting, was your baby extreamly active, or very calm?

Totally still for days, with barely felt movements.

I was induced with DD1 so I don't think that counts. DD2 was very calm to the point where I started to worry about the lack of movement. I was told they naturally calm down to get a bit of energy for birth. Don't know if that's true, or just something they tell panicky mums!

Great thread Anila, I've been wondering the same thing! My bubs has slowed down lately, I was wondering if it was just because there's less space in there for her now. It seems like I just begin to get worried about her and she starts up again, though the movements do seem smaller than before. The only way to get her really going is to play Forever by Chris Brown

    Thanks for the replies

Baby today has been so extreamly active after being so quite for a while, even my braxtons disapeared, then today i wake with period type cramps and an active baby, that has literally been moving my tummy, she has been pushing on the skin so hard that my tummy has just been going left to right, and quite uncomfortably too!
The cramps had me thinking that maybe labour could be soon, but her being so active, got me asking this question.

i was induced with my son and i didnt notice he slowed down but he was also so lazy
my daughter i had fetal monitoring 24hrs prior to giving birth and her heartrate was much much lower and she was so quiet
they say babies reserve all there energy right before being born

The day my last baby was born. We woke up early in the morning and she was wiggling around like crazy. My partner and I though there is no way this baby is coming today wiggling like that. Two hours later we were holding our baby!!!!

Leila was craaaaaaazzzzzyyy! she was a wigglin' and a squirmin'. in fact that is how she was during labour and during birth and well, since then

Marta was also quite active in the hours before (like the night before) but that morning was a bit more "wooaaah, what the?".

she is probaly wondering why her space is getting squished every now and then lol. Marta really disliked my BH...

but i would say that her being active while this is going on can still mean that labour is a possibility. as i mentioned Leila was constantly on the go.... that bubba stays a wee bit longer for you xx

DS was as active as ever, he didnt slow down at any time before labour started. I was in labour 25.5hrs, and he spent most of the time kicking me inbetween contractions lol. It wasn't pleasant during transition, I'd be thinking "yes, that contraction over, prepare for the next.." then BAM, massive kick in the ribs lol. I remember complaining about it to my DP & midwife and they laughed lol. And I remember saying & thinking "I thought babies were suppose to slow down?!". I think he just likes kicking me, he still does it now when I'm playing with him lol

The day before, with both, they were very quiet. With DD, it wasn't til I had her that I realised I didn't feel her move at all that day or the day before

I dont think she wants out anytime soon, she is just soo active, never stops, will be intersting to see if she slows down to birth, or if she keeps up this crazy pace of hers!
