What do you all think of the name Arena for a girl? Is it too abstract? Can you think of a middle name that goes with it?
and
my second choice for a girl is "Aria" which happens to be the same name a 'friend' named her baby girl 5 years ago (not a common name). This friend is on my facebook but we havn't actually communicated since high school almost 15 years ago. My sister seems to think its rude. WDYT?
Ummmm....I am not a massive fan of either sorry!! But if I had to choose it would be Aria. (Can't help thinking of opera or Matt Moran's restaurant!! Which is better than Tina Arena though...IMO.)
Ignore me though. I am hard to please when it comes to names. DP and I joke that even after years of TTC, including all of the Assisted Conception and four unsuccessful IVF cycles, the hardest part of our journey will be coming up with a name we both like!!
Arena isnt my cup of tea, but thats just my opinion. All i get in my head when i see it is "Tina Arena", maybe if it was spelt different.........i dunno? Arina, Areena, Arinah etc. Actually, spelling it different changes the dynamic of the name an enormous amount for me, how interesting. I dont mind it with those spellings.
Aria is gorgeous!! I dont think you should worry about your "friend" having a child called that at all and i think its rude of your sister to say its rude of you to use that name. You dont have contact with this person really so why cant you use the name if you love it? It would be different if this was your sisters name choice or your BFF's or something, but an aquaintance, not an issue i say.
aria is awesome- in music it means ' a little air'!
its also the name of the singing movement of a piece of music
very pretty
btw i also like allegra as well ! it was our girls name which we didnt need
another one for ya!
I don't really like Arena sorry. I know a 5yo Aria (wonder if it's the same one?) but I do prefer the name to Arena. If you never see the child then I don't see the problem. We have friends who have a Juliet who is 6m older than our Juliette - we were concerned at first but they have never actually met so they are unlikely to grow up close and now it's a non-issue.
Another one who it not a fan of Arena but I like Aria. I think if this isn't really a close friend, I'd still name my child that, although I personally would try out other names prior and unless something else grabbed my attention, I'd go for it
I know I child called Arina (she is Russian) which I don't mind. Like someone said with the "e" it makes you think of a sports arena or something! So I don't mind it with the "i".
